cant decide on a favoured method of fixing my front number plate.....
after more than a few run ins with the popo i should probably just put it on!
in particular looking at mounting methods for aftermarket bumpers,
here\'s a pic of the front
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/hammyzr/DSC_0557_copy.jpg)
could go sticker plate, could mount to the side, square or long?, leter sizing?, could mount it in the gap/duct, may reduce cooling slightly.
lets see what you\'ve done!
hammy
Sticker all the way! Just watch that paint tho ;)
Mine is maybe a bit small (at the legal minimum size) never had a problem with the bab tho :)

Stikcy on the front bumper. That way no holes needed. We\'ll be doing the same.
D2BBA, your car looks a different shade every time i see it!
sticker position\'s good on yous, mine wouldnt manage it there as it\'d be pointing no where near forward! so if it\'s the sticker route it\'ll need to be on the main body of the bumper.
if i do choose that route, where you get yours made up??
Hi matey,
Colour change is a combination of House of Kolor\'s fine work and the good old british weather, lol.
Jonno made my plate for me:)
Chris
yeah its fairly easy to tell its good paint, and wel painted at that. my paint hardly ever looks purple, need some blazing sunshine for that!
you going to JAE this year?
jonno eh......may have to get in touch, would quite like a shorter plate first, just got my standard M reg on there just now!

My brother owns bike tuning company they do variuos type of plates so i\'ll get him to do it.
ah excellent, i\'ll be in touch then dude. cheers!
Sticker again here :)
ive got a bracet that hinges - when i go to a show i will flip the plate up so you cant see it and then when im on the roads ill flip it downwards.
Dont bother with one I\'ve had my FD almost 18 months and in that time I\'ve never had a number plate on it and havent been pulled once *kiss of death*
Hey hammy, i was asking the guy in the civic type r you were parked next to about your car. At knockhill on sunday.
yeah was nt meant ot be on that stand (beside a corsa grrrrrrr) was meant to be on an all jap stand with mates but ran out of space.
Gtesy, i\'ve had my rx 13months....had 2 £30 fines and one \'take it to an mot station with the plate fixed get a bit of paper stamped and send it back\' :(
fd3sNuttah you got pix of your set up?
was originally trying to get brackets that are sprung, so plate folds flat when doing over 40mph, been increadibly hard to source since they were banned in japland. had a go at making them but without exact springs it aint easy + bit sloppy
Did you no him? I was asking him if you would sell the car?
Sticker for me ..
Got a bracket (I think it\'s made by cusco) on my front bumper which mounts the plate offset to one side, abit like the evo location. It\'s quite good as it doesnt block much of the oil cooler duct and hardly blocks any of the radiator duct. I have 330mm x 150mm plate, so still legal too.
dont really no the guy in the civic, kinda know the guy who owns unique automotive, didnt no the guy in the corsa at all!
cusco you say....shall hav a look into that.
so mant options, this is where my problem is!!
what would suit my car best then ;)
This might help you decide where to put it the plate as jap cars are allowed smaller sized plates.

:cheers
yep..... jap cars are allowed smaller plates "as long as there is no obvious position for the Std UK size plate!" Minimum text hight is 64mm 10mm thick stroke, with a minimum of a 10mm reflective around each letter.
Jono
Have you tried a signwriting firm? You can get magnetic "paper", quite often seen on minicab doors etc. You could get a plate made up, stick it to the front edge of your bonnet and take it off for shows.
Just a thought anyway, not sure if it would work.
Might work better if the bonnet weren\'t made of aluminium! (or FRP or carbon, lol, anything but steel) Not renowned for their magnetic properties!
Get a normal Jap size plate and stick it behind your windscreen mate, Can\'t ruin the lines of that beast!
yeah magnets dont hold too good on frp.....which most of my car is made of!
yeah been done once when it was on my window as well....police round these parts are pretty ghey! and im fed up getting fines that could be money towardsd the car or petrol, so looking for a fix here....really dont want to put it on though!
Hinges for mine. Attached to the top of the intercooler opening in the front.
Drops down at low speeds and swings back at higher speeds, so less restriction to air flow.
where did you get the hinges from C J R?
Two cheap brass hinges from B&Q. I cannot remember the name, but they were designed for general furnature- cabinet use. One half of each hinge was bent to suit a 25mm thick conti board type door and the other half was a conventional flat plate with three holes.
I flattened the bent side of the hinge (it also has three holes pre drilled in).
I found that the now flattened long side of the hinge extended sufficient to pick up on the mounting hole in the shortened number plate.
I only used one hole in each hinge to attach to the bumper.
A little WD40 every now and then to keep the hinge lubricated as they are really designed for indoors.
Chris
Its not......

Spot the noob commenting :Laugh Forget that idea then!
Mines hanging off the sun visor in the windscreen lol. I\'ll get a pic, its only a temp measure until I get some brackets made but it keeps the front of the car looking clean
Mine sits on the dash behind the windscreen, never been pulled but had some filthy looks from the feds... Still, MOT is next month so we shall see what happens.... :O
