Title: Wide wheel arches
Post by: raceralexuk on May 19, 2008, 01:36:58 PM
I wonder if anybody could identify what type of wheel arches this car has fitted:

(http://pix.nofrag.com/b/b/4/1a3c1a1fe378ea83561a71df4ca0b.jpg) (http://pix.nofrag.com/b/b/4/1a3c1a1fe378ea83561a71df4ca0b.html)

I\'m interested in those on the front, the side skirts and also the rear wheel arches. What I like about the rear wheel arches is how they\'re vertical in front of the rear wheels. So, you won\'t be able to see the rear tyres when looking at the car from the front.

Any help would be appreciated :yes

IIRC Re-Amemiya don\'t keep any in stock and they are all hand made to order, so anythign else would be a copy.

Go direct, Amemiya-San is a legend it would be wrong to rip him off and buy fakes.

Yeah, £1800 sounds silly. Especially for something which is going to go onto a race car and no doubt will get bashed around. So, who should I be contacting to get hold of one of these? Don\'t really mind if it\'s carbon fibre of fibreglass. I\'ll probably want to alter it a bit anyway. Can\'t be much more than £1000 for the lot, can it?

Not thought about a price, its something im just considering as it\'s took too much out of me and its no longer an enjoyment!   I had it back for a bit, took it to pips because it ran poorley only to find low compression on front rotor and the tubo oil seals have gone - nice coincidence!  I do have replacement engine & turbos waiting to go in though :)

Body all sorted and painted now, just having all trim put back on and they need to sort my undersweep out.

Re Amemiya, everyone who claims to be an agent or dealer will just order direct from them and wack up the price or buy fake and sell on as real Re Amemiya.

Unless you\'re happy to buy fake and rip off a rotary legend.

yeah envy are a lil over priced i dont use them my self i just knew they where a u.k. dealer!

Just so everyone knows, I got mine through Newera, Migs was pretty helpful with it. Was a while ago that I brought the kit though! From memory it took around 3-4months wait if not a little longer.

Looks like I might as well order straight from Re Amemiya Japan. They do have an English order email address on their website. 3-4 months is a long time though.. I guess we\'ll have to go testing with a naked car to begin with!

I found a place local to me which can reproduce bodywork, so if I do order this body kit I\'ll get a few spares made for my own use.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I\'ve fallen out with the game recently and with it being in the bodyshop all the time (as in they work on it 1% of the time ) then it\'s making me want it less!

Plan is to have it back (soonish) drop new engine and turbos (then remap) in and keep it for a bit to see how I feel.  Im up for offers but I think I have gone through too much to just give up, just gotta keep pushing myself :)

Thats actual picture in my sig but Russ photoshopped the SSR\'s on for me :mmmm

Right then, back from France so now I can get down to business. I have contacted Re Amemiya in Japan, but obviously the language barrier, however slight, still makes disussion of small details hard.

What I\'d like to know about, and "mjwebb48" you could help me out here, is how much width does the AD-GT bodykit add to the car? The guy from RE (Sakae Inukai) suggested the type II kit which he says is a bit wider - which type is yours? I\'d also like to know about the front fenders, how wide, and do they match up to the OEM nosepeice, or must I order one of those from the guys over in Japan too?

The guy from Re Amemiya also suggested I buy a few other things from them, including a rear wing. I\'m weary about it\'s efficiency and width though. I can only use a wing which is the same width as the car, and if it\'s not a proper wing I might as well bolt a ironing board to the back of the car!

I am afraid we don\'t as yet.  We are keeping it kind of under wraps until it is finished.  But it will be worth the wait (well i hope you think so anyway), i think i want to see it completed more than anyone else :rollinas then there wont be so many bits lying around the garage :p

I haent been near the car for a week or two but I would have said its 25mm-35mm wider at least . I run17"x 9.5j on the front with 255 width tyres easily. Rears the arches have been cut away for fit and i run same size wheel and tyre on the back. The frontwings will match up with standard front but I have a bomex on my car. The type 2 kit is the newer version of the Kit on Ross at dragons circuit car and that is a lot wider than mine!!!!  I think i remember him saying the car is 6" wider than standard. As far as wings go I run a apr gt300 wing, very very good loads of data on their websites as far as settings etc, worth a look. Quite pricey though!!

MJWebb48,

It\'d be really good if you could find out what offsets your wheels are because I\'m getting this kit and need to get some rims for the car. At the moment I don\'t have a clue what offsets are needed to fill these arches.

Also, on your rear arches, did you cut the rear arches away or did you fold the flange tight inside the arch?

Cheers
