Yes as silly as it sounds, I am after a towbar for my FC cool i know but it will only be on there when i need it, which is for towing my speedboat round the corner to the slipway, don\'t spouse anyone has one or has seen one lol, thanks James??
This will make the FC look interesting lol although I don\'t see a reason why one can\'t be fitted, theres plenty of space at the back! My only problem is that rotarys don\'t have much low down torque, so towing might be difficult!
Yer was cheacking it out for a tow bar & like you say lots of room & the standard 2 rear tow hooks are ideal place to mount one. Pretty sure will be fine, boat is only 16 foot & all in weighs around 900kg\'s as not a great demand on the car plus its just round the corner, what anyone else think!?!
just push the boat down :D
Have neversenn one but im sure a engineers or welders cud fad u upone in a day, i know my local one would but im in scotland lol
I\'ve seen FB and FD with tow bars on rx7club. Haven\'t looked for an FC one though. Many of the guys over there use them to take spares to the track.

Cheers Shaun
I had a towbar on my Egi which was fitted by the previous owner and never used!
It used to get very strange looks and I decided that if the car did get a nudge that it might do something disasterous to the boot floor pan - so removed it!
I will have to dig some pictures out...
:)
Cheers matey would be cool to see, ha strane looks i bet, bet the speed boat hanging off the back of it won\'t look any stranger, plan to take the tow bar off once not being used!!
I have a \'bar on my FC Cab TII, came from my local Towing dealer, but that was 11 years ago!! no problem with towing trailers , even moved my Caravan once with it! Also saved my rear end when \'rear ended\' on M\'way not so the guy that hit me!!
Ha great so it can be done, thanks for the pic :driving
I would not consider it for towing a boat up a slip way. You would get it in the water, but you would burn your clutch out trying to get it up the slip way. Also RX7\'s are low cars, so if you have to get close to the water to launch your boat, your exhaust would be under water [ salty sea water and stalled engine, not good]. Make sure you invite a friend with a Land Rover to come with you that would be my advise.
Good luck with your engine.

Point taken & has been thout bout, for now is to just mearly move the boat about she is small & light and had never intended to get the car anywhere near the water, just to the slipway & pull maually the rest (with a big bit of rope for emergency incase i need to tow it out, but from a distance with car out of waters way) thanks for your advice.
Just wondering about the technical reason why an RX-7 clutch would burn out any quicker than another car?

Nothing to tech.
RX7 are designed to go fast and Land Rovers slow, RX7\'s are also light and not made for towing .
As rx7\'s do not have low down power, in order to pull a boat up a slip way with an RX7, you would need to rev the engine a lot to get the power to move it, and to do this you would need to slip the clutch, as if you start wheel spinning you could end up going backwards into the sea as slip ways are always slimey.
Think i might have to be getting me some brownie points with the old man who owns a Pajero with towbar already on & not put rex in harms way, thanks for your help peolpe :)
Hi!
Sorry for the delay - here\'s what mine did look like before it was removed unused.
As a matter of interest I\'m pretty sure that it does say in the RX7 handbooks that you shouldn\'t tow with an RX7 - it\'s such a free revving engine and doesn\'t really have the correct low end torque for it.

I\'m fascinated with it protecting your rear end? Other than mine being unused, and I didn\'t feel it suited the look of the car, the fear of it damaging the boot floor etc if \'rear ended\' was one of the main reason\'s mine was removed. The floor pans are probably different though and I\'d imagine the designs of the towbars (and thus fixing methods/areas) can be different too.

not sure if this will work for you
