Hi guys sorry if this post is in the wrong place but i need help,
Just notice a patch of oil under my car its not from the sump because that\'s bone dry i removed the splash guard it seem to be coming from between the gear box and engine,
plus my second turbo doesn\'t seem to boost
Any advice would be great thanks Matt
Oil between the gearbox & engine is usually caused by a leaking rear main seal mate.
If you can get the car up on stands a have a look underneath there will be a small inspection plate (should have a sticker on it warning about pull type clutch) on the bottom of the gearbox (bellhousing) just before it joins the engine.
Remove this plate (2x 10mm bolts) and put your finger inside the bellhousing, if there seems alot of oil in there then it is almost certainly the rear main seal.
Hope this helps
yeah cheers mate going to my brothers work on sat so I\'ll throw it on the ramps and have another look, what would affect my second turbo not boosting:xconfused thanks matt
Yeah likely to be the main rear seal as Lum says, you can do this with engine in the car but you will need to remove the gearbox, clutch and flywheel to do it as well as the other bits, driveshaft etc...
Re the turbo, what boost are you seeing on 1st turbo ? Could be a solenoid ?
I\'m not sure what kind of boost the 1st turbo is running i have no gages as yet,
Rite I\'m thinking of ringing pip at wgt tomorrow to see if i can book my car in and get it sorted out hope it wont be to expensive no nights out for me :(

Turbo not boosting could be a number of things mate, most likely a faulty solenoid or vacum pipe, speak to M4D RX i think he\'s pretty good at diagnosein these problems.
I junked my twin turbos long ago so don\'t have a lot of experiance with them!
As said above, if it is the rear main seal then a replacement is only about £8 but is pretty labour intensive to fit, had mine replaced at rotechniks when i first got the car, was about £370 all in i think.
But if you\'ve got a ramp & are handy with the spanners then get involved!:Thumbsup! I\'d defo do it myself if i ever needed to change it again.
It\'s not necessarily a major job to do yourself if you have the space and are capable enough :) it all depends on what you\'re happy to do.... personally i\'ll try anything myself first :D
My brothers the one who\'s good with the spanners but its him having the time to do it
Rite i had another look under the car and decide to take a pic
any more feedback would be great

Possibly the rear of your sump then mate?
hi mate thanks for your replies, yeah I\'m hoping it is the rear of the sump is that a simple job??
going back to my boost problem where are the solenoid located?
thanks matt

Think the sump is a subframe out jobbie.
Sump is probably harder than the rear main seal to be honest, requires you to support the engine from above while you remove the subframe as Gatesy stated....
Another piece of advice, dont bother buying a gasket as they are a waste of time due to the movement of the engine and will not seal it. Just get some high quality RTV sealant i think it is and then a 4-5mm bead around the sump (make sure it\'s clean and dry) and then rebolt the sump up to torque... I\'d also highly recommend removing any old sealant and cleaning up the bolt holes before putting them back in with a decent chase/tap...

Most of the solenoids & vacum pipes are located in the "rats nest" which is underneath the upper inlet manifold.
As for the sump it\'s not so much a difficult job more time consuming, i\'ve done mine twice with the engine in. It\'s better to take your time & get it all sealed properly first time.
You need to support the engine from above with an engine crane or strut tower bar (although i just jacked up the gearbox & used that to lift the engine:Giggle)
you can get the sump off by just unbolting the subframe (the bit that normally holds the weight of the engine) and pulling it down to create some space, but when i did it the second time i completely removed it which means you have to unbolt the lower suspension arms from the subframe.
This gives you loads of room to work with. I had to drill out & helicoil quite a few of the threads that the sump bolts too as they\'re prone to stripping quite easily.
Hope this helps.
Looks like it might be coming from the engine mount bolt holes (as they go through the sump too). But, whether it is or it isn\'t, it deffo looks like sumpas others have said.
