Title: upgrading stocktwins
Post by: turbo boy on May 12, 2008, 07:49:29 PM
Hello everyone. I want to upgrade my stocktwins, can i send em off to have 360thrust bearings and cut back blades fitted? Is this worth doing or shall i save up and get some proper aftermarket twins. This would be a step-up, but eventually i want 400-450rwhp. I have been looking at the hks and garrett range and quite fancy bolting two gt2876 turbos or the hks 2835, are they similar? I want fast spooling power and wanna be different, im getting sick and tired of seeing big singles all the time. I can`t remember the last time i saw a high powered twin!   cheers

I don\'t think you will achieve much from just cutting the blades back and 360 thrust bearings. The uprated twins like the ks rf420\'s are very extensively modified.

Also a hks 2835 or a gt 2876 won\'t make 400rwhp i don\'t think.

Go single! I managed it on about £2500 and couldn\'t get over the difference, gets rid of all the sh*t rats nest and emissions equipment too.

It all depends what your after, single is a bit on off, twins would be more responsive.

My FC has a single to start with lol :D which is one of the reasons why I got it lol but I think that higher power twins sounds good, perhaps run a smallish turbo for quicker spool and then a much larger one as the other 1 :) that way u have good drivability and you could also get lots of boost if you wished to launch down a drag strip?

Keep twins if you can and have the money, although the power gain won\'t be massive, but at least you\'ll keep the response and low down grunt of twins. Knight Sports is the way forward! :Thumbsup!

BNR\'s have what you are looking for and they are well within your price range ($2,350 + S/H for them). I had mine installed and tuned last month and I love them! On a stock ported motor I\'m making 325whp (Dyno-Dynamics numbers) at 1.1bar. As soon as I get a better cooling system (currently GReddy SMIC w/ stock duct), aka: W/I, on I\'m going to see about remapping for more power.

Fully sequential (with option for non-seq), fully reliable. These uprated twins are good to about 1.5bar (One fellow in the states Rich, aka Goodfellas made 421whp with these on a streetported motor at 1.2bar. It was mapped by Steve Kahn of course ^_^) :yes :Thumbsup!
