Title: Silly boost pressure question...
Post by: RedRummy on May 10, 2008, 09:31:08 PM
Right, in an FD, stock twins, starting from a slow roll, say you accelerate in 2nd gear, boost rises to, say, 0.5 bar (not WOT), if you hold the accelerator pedal right there, maintain at the same speed, should the boost pressure stay exactly where it is... or will it drop as pressure is released...?

(PS - I\'m trying to diagnose my boost leak!  In my case the pressure drops.)

depends on a number of factors, load,is the road level, what speed are you maintaing, revs, etc, if you were driving at 3k rpm on a level road in second gear and held it the boost will drop.
really you have to go at WOT through 3rd gear to 8k and take or someone make a note of the boost pattern from 2k

Yeah, OK thanks... though that might be a quick way of spotting a leak...

I usually do keep an eye on the boost pattern, i\'ll check it out...

It should fall off. The engine needs load for the turbo to show any meaningful boost.
