Simon has only had about 4 races.  He killed his first car after the second race last year....and this is his second race in the new car!  It was an Evo9 with 200miles on the clock when he bought it!  So at most it will have done 400 miles!!

Gary is a superb driver...and it shows, in buckets, his skill with experience making up for the 100 horse power Simon has over Gary.

I dont think Simon is a bad driver....I think he is probably in too fast a car for his experience, given this is his 4th crash in 8 months.  But he has an established tunning business, and he has been doing it for many years, so I guess he has to be showing off a good car.

Thankfully, and most importantly, no one was hurt!  Just goes to show that a proper weld in cage can save your life when stopping at 100mph!!!

wow Gary was giving away a 100 bhp awesome performance.
So what you think caused the brake failure?

Doubt hes a hundred 100hp down, Simons on T04Z @ circa 1.7bar and Garys on a Gt35 @2.2bar. Although Simons using more revs, as he doesnt have to worry about engine warranty!
I think he did a good job of saving it, very easy to just freeze up in a situation like that. Ref him as a a driver, its not until you actually get in these high hp car that you can appreciate how hard/scary they are to drive. But easy to comment from behind a computer screen.

I thought it looked like more than that tbh. Must be gutting to lose your car when its through no error on your own part, guess thats racing but still :o

I\'ve heard that people have signed up to MLR just to have a pop at him, which is pretty low, kick a man when he\'s down eh?

As Dragon says, it\'s easy to look at a vid and say what could have been done, but those reactions have to be 100% programmed into your body, especially in such a high adreline moment! Even racing slow cars is full of "could have\'s" and "should have\'s" so in something that quick it\'d just be amplified.

well its the brakes that have let him down not the driver, so bit unfair on Simon if people are having a pop at him on MLR

I think Simon has quashed the bitching on the Evo Forum....everyone is very quick to have a dig! Your brain has to think very quickly, and its amazing how it actually does have time to think about the situations rather than leaving it all to experience.

Spoke to Gary today....he thinks Simon is running about 60bhp over him, and he was enjoying the battle more than most.....doesnt seem to think the car is a right-off....so the plan is to try and rebuild it for the next May race.

It is a very fast bend, and I think to be fair Gary probably saved Simon\'s life....or at least a lot of pain. If he had hit the banking at the pace he was running at, I don\'t think he would have popped out of the car so quickly.

Rumour has it Simon might have a break for a while....that will be a shame, as it is good to have enthusiastic people out on circuit....I think he just needs to get some more experience in a car that isn\'t travelling as fast, but even Gary made mistakes and he has loads of experience!

Once again....just lucky they are all OK. No damage other than a couple of Evos...Chav cars anyway!! ;)

That is a good point, the fact that Gary was there absorbed a fair bit of the shock. Still no-one wants to be a mobile crash barrier :2eek

Good that everyone was ok and I suspect Gary will be able to salvage a lot of that car

this racing mularki is quite expensive to be competitive, I defo dont have the skill to go round the circuit like that, I think I will stick to drag racing its postively cheap lol
