Title: missfire at 3k
Post by: LeedsLad on May 05, 2008, 03:24:39 PM
ok guys and girls, iv\'e just today finished putting the engine back together and it fires up fine ,idles normal but will not rev past about 3k unless the throttle is used gradualy. It\'s a uk spec 1992 fd and i have had to bodge the rats nest slightly as to not having a diagram of the slightly more complex uk spec one.
One problem may be in that the fuel pressure regulator has 2 nipples i\'m told one   is manifold pressure (mines connected to the pressure control solenoid) ant the other is vented to atmos but which is which the upper or the lower?

Any ideas at all welcome i\'m stumped :xconfused

My car doesn\'t seem happy if the battery is not fully charged, and I was wondering why. That\'s interesting.
I guess that you could leave it running for a while or take it for a quiet spin until the alternator gives some juice to the battery.

What are the differences between the rats nest in a UK an a JDM FD3s?
Why make it different?

Thanks.

my problems with the rats nest arn\'t over yet i don\'t think, one of the main problems is that where 4 pipes go through the lim i only have 3 and a extra pipe in the center where the arangment of fixed pipes are.

I\'m not sure on the differences yet other than the pipes are routed differently and there is an extra hard pipe in the center with 3 ends, ooh there are only 3 nipples on the lim where there are 4 on the us and jap models

I think the main reason it was different (I\'ve heard the plenum is slightly different aswell) was to regulate emissions ie. sap torque and precious bhp and theres a pre-cat in the down pipe i know jap ones don\'t but im not sure on other models.

Where? :Giggle

I\'m also VERY interested in knowing the differences of the JDM and the UK RX7.

What would you change back from the UK model to the JDM or vice versa?
Thanks.

Eh, now i like the sound of the hinge lol....

Oh by the way, here\'s a tip....

If you are using silicon hose, this can squash quite easy when a sharp bend is used.  There are 3 tight ones, two from a solenoid to the left of the rats nest (you\'ll see it) and one in the centre which comes from a solenoid and connect to the ACV i think... Now, if you put a spring in each of these from a ball point pen (which is just the right size) it stops the pipe squashing and creates a nice round bend :):)
