Post by: SiH on May 04, 2008, 08:33:57 PM
I\'ve put up a project thread (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=48914), but thought i\'d cut to the chase and post some nice piccies of my toy. Got it from Jurgen in February of this year, and i\'m utterly stoked with it :mmmm

Very nice, I have a very similar car, 96 RB Bathurst, all white, 99 spec front and back but with Mazda Speed Spoiler…

I love them in white. 99 spec nose IMO is the nicest front ever designed for the fd, so elegant…

lol :D
Yeah, i know, but uying it kind of wiped me out! dish will be soon, and it can\'t get much lower - scuffed the diffuser on the way into the Shell today :(

Michael - when i was geting mine, yours was almost exactly what i\'m after - not many 99 spec White FD\'s around - that\'s the main reason i imported :)

SiH

I have tein suspension, the car is lowered to 5’ off the ground, I clear all the humps fine here in London but if I had a diffuser I would defo damage it without a shadow of a doubt.  Diffuser is defo a no no when you are coming of a hump in a lowered fd.

I must say that your bonnet looks the bizz…

The trick is - if you think you are going slow over a hump or a dip – then go even slower.

Michaelb

I\'m still not convinced on the bonnet - perhaps when i get rid of the vented light cover (really don\'t like it) then it\'ll look better, but it just looks a bit \'busy\' to me at the mo - i love the clean lines of a stock bodied FD.

Oh, a few more my photo guru friend took (The ones above were mine :o):

:D the bonnets staying until i can find a FEED one :D

EnvyD - yup, that\'s me, the wheel man ;) :D

Karl - most of them are around Leamington Spa - the glass building is the old Roush building - makes a really nice backdrop. The others are Stoneleigh Abbey and various railway arches :)

Got any pics of the V mount setup? Also how did you get on with removing the AC Matrix?

More piccies of the V-mount setup here:
http://s140.photobucket.com/albums/r30/Simon_r_hill/VMount/

Temporary brackets in there at the mo though, need to sort out some prettier more permanent ones, and jiggle the fit a bit :)

AC matrix was pretty damn easy - do you mean the one under the dash?
Pop the glovebox out, a couple of bolts, and then ditch all the pipework, and blick up the hole :)
Refitting is reverse of removal :)

Excellent photos. Car looks most proper. Thirds on the bonnet! Why only one brake light each side? Is that a standard late model thing or something that\'s been done aftermarket? Good write up on the other thead, chap, commendable application and ingenuity shown there! Makes me feel motivated to ditch all the aircon rubbish from mine seeing how much there actually is of it

The light clusters are a wierd one to be honest - Pretty sure they\'re converted ones, but it\'s not the usual way - there\'s only 2 spots - indicator and lights/brake. I haven\'t looked closely enough to really figure out what\'s been going on as i\'ve been focusing on the mechanicals.
I quite like them, but think i prefer the more balanced look of genuine \'96 spec ones :)

Cheers for the kind words :)

Maybe it was personal preference when the little japanese dude converted them, lol It looks a bit weird when you\'re so used to either the normal lozenges or the 99 spec, but at least it\'s different. Never seen ones done like that before.

Wonder if it still has all the bulbs too.

I converted mine with the usual two spots,

On page 208 of the no. 5 RX-7 Hyper Rev book, in the Lighting and Bulbs section there\'s a photo of one of the FAMC (FAM Speed) demo cars with what look like the same light treatment, but it\'s a tiny photo and difficult to say for sure if it\'s exactly the same. I\'d certainly tell everyone they were very rare and desirable FAMC lights if I were you, no-one will be able to gainsay you on it!

lol, might rip them out and look for markings/bulb holders, never really looked into it :D Is nice to be different though.
Cheers for the knowledge, i\'ll get googling :D
Now to sort out this overboosting problem :(

Matt: Looking good dude :)

Here\'s a copy of the pic from Hyper Rev (volume 91) if its of any use. Dunno how well it\'ll come out, hope it\'s ok. For some reason my pic attatchments only seem to appear as a text box and you have to click on them to open another window, then they work. Bizarre
