Car won’t start.
It’s my fault; I left an interior light on and drained the battery. I then jump started it, and let it run for 15 minutes ish. I was satisfied that it was just a flat battery but unfortunately did not have time to run it for any longer.
So I went to start it again to day… and nothing. Even with the jump leads on… nothing. I am hoping someone here can suggest what to do.
Extra info
- Turning the key to start I get absolutely nothing
- With the jump leads on and the key in I get the expected lights on the dash and beeping to tell me the door is open
- The car has a cat1 alarm and immobiliser
- My remote central locking no longer works.
- The car immobilises it self after being 60seconds of being turned off/unlocked.
- To remobilise the car I turn the ignition to on and push the unlock button on my fob, this has no effect.
Sounds like your main battery may be dead.
sounds like battery is knackered mate. Test the alternator to see if its charging the battery ok. If not then thats your problem.
Have you checked all the fuses etc? When you say turning with the key you get nothing, not even internal lights? If not could be the battery is dead, if that is the case try a new one. With a fully flay battery i\'m not sure that jump leads would work (i could be wrong but i\'m fairly sure)
yeah id say its the battery. does the alarm go off at all?
I heard somewhere ages ago that it takes 20 mins of driving to put five minutes worth of battery power back into the battery i heard. so 15mins of idling isn\'t going to do anything.
You should overnight charge the battery or replace. Haha i love these kind of threads cos then i can use my comedy sparta pic.
Thanks for the help
I must admit I have posted this at work without being able to check things like fuses until I get home.
When I turn the key to on the dash lights are on, when I turn the key to start nothing happens like when the battery is completely dead or the immobiliser is enabled.
If the battery is knackered would you have expected it to start yesterday? I have interior lights and dash lights with out the aid of jump leads.
Yes the alarm goes off every time i connect the jump leads!
Interior lights and dash lights require a lot less ampage to switch them on that the starter does. Unlikely to be the immobilisor as they usually stop you from seeing the dash lights. It really does sound like classic dead battery. I\'ve had mine flat enough so i can see dash lights but nothing happens when i turn the key. Get it checked out.
