Title: porting
Post by: turbo boy on May 01, 2008, 08:06:43 PM
Hello everyone. Im currently rebuilding my fd and yesterday received my mild streetport template from pineapple racing. Today my dad took the plates to work to get em ported. There about 90% complete at the moment, just abit more smoothing out to do which we will do at home. What i want to know is, can you port the housings? The open sleave located at the bottom of each housing is quite rough and has a jagged edge lip inside. Can this sleave be taken out and then ported like the plates? If i knew how to post pics you`re know what im talkin about.  cheers

Do you have the pictures hosted on a website (Photobucket, Flikr, etc)? If so just copy and paste the link to the right of the picture (or directly below, based off the setup) that has (//%5BI%5Dlink%5B/I%5D) around it. The description for the link should specify it\'s for forum use.

you are talking about the exhaust ports on the Rotor housings, leave the sleaves in and just smooth out , there is pics on the net to make the exhaust ports bigger, but I would not bother on the Pineapple templates as they are quite mild, what turbo you going to run

Hopefully this doesnt sound too silly, but is there any benefit to porting out the exhaust ports but leaving the standard size intake ports? (fc)

it will effect your torque numbers by doing that from what I read, so keeping intake the same but increasing the exhaust port size torque will go down as there is less back pressure, hp may rise slightly, but I think an expert on porting will need to confirm what I think.

I ran my old EGi with no sleeves and mild ports on the inlet - never had it dyno\'d, but it pulled quite well :)

Cheers for the info lads, much appreciated. I think i`ll just smooth the exhaust ports seeing that im running stock twins, nothing hardcore.

Not recommended on a street driven Turbo rotary as it disapates the exhaust heat

Fduk it i might bridgeport the rotor housings (gotta be a first!), bridgeport the plates, strap two garrett gt6041 turbos, wire eight 1680cc injectors, remap it to 3bar of boost @1000hp whilst despatching 7sec 1/4miles! never mind my apex seals, i might fduk my intake welds!:rollin:rollin

Thanks for the info guys - Sounds like it would be better for me to leave the ports alone :Thumbs-up
