While on the subject of the Apexi, does anyone know what the other "base" map settings consist of ?

Obv the Apexi comes with a number of pre-programmed maps if you look in the settings, but what can these cater for or what do they adjust ??

Just wondering as you do :D

Also I have this connection coming back from the engine bay and I am unsure where it goes:

Then this is spliced into the wiring of the FC but I dont know what its for? I was thinking it could be a speed limit defencer?

Yes mate, mines a UK car, but wiring shouldn\'t have changed that much...

Anyways, mine connects up behind the fan/air conditioning drip tray about here, so if you stick your head up behind there you should see the other connector... Tis tight tho...

Another quick one for the PFC Guru\'s...

When i\'ve been out in the car, and then stop and then get back in say 10-15 mins later, the car has obv heat soaked, and the water temp is at about 108 or so.  When you start the car, the rev\'s go up and down like someones blipping the throttle until the temp goes below 100.  I assume this is the PFC\'s/engine\'s way of getting the water round the radiator quicker to cool it down by spinning the pump quicker yeah??

Dont suppose anyones figured out the other 3 base maps yet either ??

no its not its way of pushing the water round quicker lol , needs to be mapped if you still on base map, there is is only one map on the apexi
What makes you think there is three, what are you looking at on the commander

Well it used to do the same thing with the standard ECU

Erm... Dunno lol, i\'ll have a look tonight, might be me just being well, me lol

there is only 1 base map on the power fc and im sure i was told a while back by someone it is for basic mods, induction and exhaust although i could be wrong.  Its probalby slightly better then the map on the standard ecu but get it remapped even if you only have basic mods, i ran mine on base map for a bit before i could get it mapped and was very simliar to standard ecu then when i had it mapped the engine ran alot smoother and more responsive

I completely agree with you that i need it mapped, i just can\'t justify spending the £110 in fuel to get me there and back and then the £350 odd for the actual mapping for it just to run a bit smoother as it\'s running fine on base map. I only have one mod which is the exhaust. I know the PFC\'s run richer si am not too worried about it being as it was running fine on the standard ECU also, albeit i couldn\'t see the figures that i can with the PFC. I\'m also worried about it possibly go bang on the dyno with such high mileage..... Although it does still pull like a train and no starting or water problems tbh...

i see what you are saying but then again if its high mileage getting it mapped will make it run better and it may last a bit longer before it goes pop and needs a rebuild

well the guy is on a budget I suppose, it will run better and probably eat less juice when mapped, doubt if it will make it last longer though if he has not deted yet on his current map then its unlikely it will. Engines normally go pop because of det, water seals (mapping cant help here), Worn out apex seals (inadequate oil and cooling will cause premature wear).
So mapping only helps with the det issue

It\'s not really that i\'m on a budget, i just dont see the point in spending nearly 500 quid on something that is working well with the engine, but i appreciate what you are saying...

It would be nice to get it mapped for 95 fuel however with the current prices as they are... I may change it back to the standard ECU and enjoy the benefits of using 95 fuel again lol...

Chances are even if the engine goes pop or suffers from the water seal failure due to the mileage the the plates and housing are not really gonna be any use so while it\'s running ok as it is i\'d rather leave it and run rather than the expense of fixing something temporarily.
