when i am coming to a stop i can here a knocking noise the pads got a bit of life still on them. the pedal seems quite stiff as well. anyone had this problem before any help would be great.
Could well be a stck piston in the caliper. Could also be a variety of other things, but pistons, and then bushes would be my first ports of call.
where is the sound comming from bud? Front, back etc??
Bushings ?
Probably the Bushes mate, but surely have a look of everythings.
Any noise when reversing?
if you get the same noise when going over bumps then it\'s def the bushes
Make sure you haven\'t lost a bolt in one of the caliper mounts, somehow one came out of a rear and when ever I pressed the brakes I\'d get a clonking noise! Best get it fixed ASAP!

If you can\'t find anything loose etc and the knock is more of a "click" only once when you apply the brake then it could well be just the pads moving around very slightly in the calliper.
Providing the retaining pins are all there intact this will only cause annoyance and will not be a danger.
Hope this helps
Sounds daft dude but also check to see if the backbox of your exhaust has any play in it. I had a weird knocking noise and after fiddling about banged my head on the exhaust and realised that it had to much movement in it and was knocking against the chassis.
Knocked up a very quick bracket and no more knocking.
