hi guy\'s i posted earlier today (well actully yesterday at this time of night lol) that ive been feeling like the car\'s a bit slugish sometimes, and also i had problems with my steering.
well i found out what was wrong with my steering, it wasnt anything to do with the fluid being low or an air lock in the system (which is what a few mates had though and sugested, i thought it was something diffrent) it turned out to be the rear heat shield on the turbo\'s to downpipe had rusted off its bolts and was hanging down so every time i turned the wheel it would get caught (pretty dangours). well ive now taken the heat shield off as i couldnt get the bolts undone and need to find some washers so i can put it back on. anyway after this ive noticed after a little driving my 2nd turbo wont boost. it vary\'s between 0.4 bar and 0.02. if you leave it to cool down for an hour then go back out for a blat it boost\'s normaly for the 1st 5 min\'s then start\'s to not boost again. you can also hear what sounds like a boost leak from somewhere but i cant see where from.
am i getting serious heat soak though to the rear dump valve making it stick open or something (at the moment its just venting to air as the hose broke when trying to get the heat shield off and i didnt have a 90 bend only a stright bit, so it just pointing stright up lol.) i did notice aswell that it was glowing a nice red after the quick blat, and if left idleing for a little bit you do see a real faint glow aswell.
anyone got any idea\'s? im putting the heatshield back on today but just wanna know if anyone else has had this sort of problem?
sounds like the heat from the turbo is either making a rubber vacuum pipe go soft and either close up under vacuum or opening up a split or the recirc/dump valve is stuck open and venting all the time. hard to say without looking at it.
