Mark, Rob,
MRC is going to Japfest next week (with a very poor turnout so far) and from what I can understand the only limitation on your car is the noise limit to stop you getting out on track for some fun.

Hi clive i am going to japfest but with another club, sorry about the poor turnout and i do have a session booked for the afternoon but im just taking my road car as its not worth the time trailering my trackcar up.
If people are interested we hold several track day events at our airfield in Norfolk not far from Kings Lynn. No restrictions at all, just as long as its roadworthy, cost is usually £100 for Sat and Sun or £60 for just one of the days. You have a 200MPH straight if you want to but other than that it uses cones and natural bends. There can be as many as 40 cars out on track but it is nearly a 4 mile track. It is on an active RAF airbase and I would have to sponsor you but thats no problem. The Evo boys had a day dedicated to their cars and maybe we can do the same. All money goes to charity. You just need to wear a seatbelt and helmet. If anyone is interested then drop me a PM. cars range from Volvo\'s (you\'d better watch out for some of these boys !!) to Skylines, Evos, the usual stuff really. Quite often a few Ferraries show up and the word is spreading on how cheap it is to attend this event. Well worth the money and effort to get here. There is one part of the track where you dont want to be behind anyone else as its a bit sandy and its just a case of watching the paintwork. Its dead flat so cars can be as low as they dare but there are speed bumps getting into the main gate which might cause a few probs but i can maybe get round that via another gate if necessary. let me know what you think. Dont forget its all for Charity every single time.
very interested in these. Which RAF base, is it marham? I\'m in RAF. When\'s next 1?
yes its Marham and i will have to check on the next dates. I work on one of the Sqn\'s. be good to have someone like yourself as it makes things easier. I will get the next round of dates and we\'ll go from there.
A club day at the base might be an interesting option :)
well it good as there is no restrictions which would be good for the majority. I will see when the next track day is and then if not if and when we can have a sole rotary performance day. it does not just have to be a track day but skills at driving etc etc. Well at least it has got the minds ticking and its only a 2 hour drive from the heart of London if that in a rotary !! well we are quicker at overtaking on the back roads !!
I\'ll keep you all in touch.
Pete
I could be interested, depending on dates.
Good to meet and chat to you at the Brooklands event last week.
Cheers
Malcolm
This sounds great, come on Team MRC sort this as a MRC/FDUK Rotary Track Weekend Meet, mag photo shoot as well and all for charity.
We do a Drag weekend so why not a Track weekend.
Quality idea.:Party
well what we need is the numbers to make it viable, I will get some dates and then we can go from there, much better to have an all jap or all rotary. Obviously this could be something quite big if we wanted to. In September I am helping to organise a World rally car weekend, we are hoping to raise about 100k from this, all the top world drivers will be present and all in aid of the Richard Burns Foundation. Even Richard burn\'s father will drive his first mk1 escort he used to rally in. It all ends in a rather large formal dinner (invited only) and a T in the park band style concert with a top band performing. There was talk of a Top gear v 5th Gear competition as well and it will be fully televised. Once the final plans are in if its open to the public i will let you all know as this will be something definately not to miss. They are also going to do a stage around the Kings Lynn Arena. More details will follow as and when and again this could end up as another of the cuff rotary meet and again all for charity.
blimey you are well keen now arent you rob. Ive never done any track days before but really want to when i can finally get the car bk on the road, unfortunately have other priorities at mo. Im also going to japfest but will also be on another clubs stand, sorry, but ive got a good excuse as its my own club and i wont be in the rx7 either :p Will keep an eye out for you rob and anyone else whos going from here :Thumbsup!

Nice, I will look out for your car there. This being my first trackday I will be in the beginners session. It would be good to get some tips.
A £60 track event! I would be interested. Have decided I am going to spend the little money I have on fuel and driving instead of upgrades. (Well this year at least). :Viking

I can def recommend grabbing an instructor wen u get there if poss, if not I dnt mind sittin next 2u n showin u the line n track. Good circuit 4beginers n only a small chance of hittin part of the course. Good things 2take, oil, coolant, foot pump 4tyres, n a flask of coffee or tea. Lol. I\'ll av a selection of tools n bits.
I\'ll be at Brands tomorrow doing probably morning session only. Feel free to pop down for a passenger ride. :)

I have got most of what I need already including 2 instructor sessions booked. But it would be good to get your input on this too. Anything that will make be drive better is appreciated.
Quick question while I remember.. I have a set of good but worn tyres with about 1mm of tread. Will I be able to use them on the track and is there anywhere I can leave my legal tyres while I drive?

I use a 2nd set of wheels aswell. Ill get a garage when i get there and save you the adjacent 1 so look for my black beauty when you arrive. Aslong as you\'re happy to use the tyres then its fine.
Any more questions feel free to ask. Mob 07515663247. Andy
An adjacent garage would be good. Am glad the track provides garages, I did wonder what people did with their stuff while they were driving. Will see you in a few days time Andy.
RAF Marham track day in October. Think its weekend 4/5 Oct so let me know how many are interested. I will let you know the prices but its around £100 for both days or £60 for single. Pretty much anything goes, no noise limits and its a big wide open airfield with coned off corners etc. not much you can hit. There are a few dirty areas but mainly extremly small bits of stone/dust, its ok if you are not directly behind a car at that point. I will get onto the organisers as this has been an issue for a couple of years now.
Will post up details when I get them. If you want to stay over then there are a few cheap places to stay, let me know and I will do some digging for you.
All money goes to charity.
