The good news is i have power! After 8 hours of fault finding (various grounds not connected, fuses missing, wires cut, headlights not fitting, relays missing, flasher unit missing etc) I have all lights working and correct. And the starter motor engages, which is a good sign.
Now the bad news. I cannot get the wiper motor to work. Nothing, zip.. I\'m fairly confident the motor works, and the wiring is ok. However its a cab wiper switch on a coupe loom, the upper switch is different on the cab and does the roof as opposed to the rear wiper, i suspect the wiper control in the switch is wired differently?
Can anyone help shed some light on this. Also is there a fuse for the wipers, because i have no fuse diagram!
Cheers,
Charlie
well i have a coupe switch i\'ll swop for your cab one if you want as long as it works.
yes there is a fuse, think that one is in the footwell area.
I actually found the coupe switch fitted to a cab !!! bit silly as it also holds the switch for the roof, did baffle me for a few seconds when i first tried it.
You don\'t know which fuse it is chap do you?
The wiper/light switch units are different from Egi to TII to Cabriolet. Mazdas little way of irritating the hell out of you! ;)
id do you a swap for a coupe wiper switch aswell :D
If Pete is using a coupe switch in his cab then it should work the other way round...
I\'ve found a fuse guide, so will give them a check today. Already realised the rear wiper fuse is completelty missing.
pete will be using a cab switch in his cab - but prob has spare ones ( like me )
it was that when i pulled one of the scrap cars apart I realised that someone had fitted a coupe wiper switch assy in the cab. The downside is that the wiper bit worked but the roof switch which is the rear wash/wipe on the coupe obviously didnt. for a quick fix its ok as you dont need the roof to operate for the MOT. Strange i know but true.
Problem solved chaps, it was another missing fuse (note to self, next time find a fuse guide before starting)
I now have one wiper which clears the drivers side with a bit of bodgiing (the cage sits where the drives side wiper attachment is supposed to be) and the windscreen spray works.
The rear wiper obviously does\'nt work, but i don\'t really care.
Next job... make an assortment of intercooler pipework fit, attach turbo to manifold, attach downpipe to turbo and fit exhaust!
now thats just the stage i am at.......................if only i had my car !!! done the turbo bit though!! I\'m going to use some 2.5" stuff that i got from the scrap compound at work and then once i\'m happy get some made in 3". Will i see a difference in pipework size ? not really sure but the more volume i suppose it can shift will give some more horses. An extra 1/2" with the amount of pipework needed soon adds up to a large volume of air. let us know how you route it. I\'m going totally front mount but i\'m ditching the aircon stuff and have now got a electric fan.
Hi,
is your wiperunit still down? Maybe I can help. I live in the Netherlands and have already repaired several units.
So let me know if you are interesting.
