Not even got my car yet and already thinking about mods :). Given that I know it\'s got breathing and suspected ECU mods, I\'d like to put a boost gauge on it asap. The gauge itself is easy to find as there are lots of places that sell them (be nice to find one that matches the other dials with a suitable range though), but does anybody know where I can get a decent quality A-pillar pod that would fit a 3rd Gen 1994 car? Following a web search, seems like there might be some places in the States that would sell something like that, but does anybody know of a UK supplier? Probably just black plastic would be fine, as long as it fits correctly.
Any sources much appreciated.
Ta, Andrew
What about one that fits in the bottom of the windscreen?
I will be trying one this weekend, if you can wait that long.
Dan
you can get the pillar mount pods from demon tweeks (//www.demon-tweeks.co.uk I think) and also graham goode in Leicester stock them... I think they do them in plastic and "carbon fibre" (I say "..." because its unlikely they actually are, but maybe Im wrong! )
Demon tweeks used to stock a really good range of gauges but their web-site is a bit crap, so might be better phoning them or getting hold of a copy of their motorsport (not their road tuning... ...its a bit \'ripspeed at halfords) catalogue

Try svs ltd, they get greddy ones. Hyper SR also get them. They only hold 60mm gauges though. HTH :)

Dan, given I haven\'t even fully paid for my car yet, yes, I can wait that long. And by "bottom of the windscreen", I presume you mean in the corner against the pillar up the side of the windscreen, which is what I mean by an A pillar pod :)?
Catboy - are the demon tweeks ones generic, or are they actually designed for the RX7?
Cheers
Andrew
I have the Demontweeks dual pod (pilar type) you have to cut them to fit.You can make the cut look a bit beter by putting
small black tube (with a slit in it) along the cut edge.
I know it may be obvious but a US one will be handed to fit
L/H pillar ?
Demon tweeks are about £25-£30 (one part fits all)
Paul..
I had one for a while, and when you\'ve cut it, you can use the split tube idea or some rubber edging from a trimmers or something as mentioned by paul-TII... ...makes a much neater job.
I have seen some people blend them into the A-Pillar covers on other cars, but it never looks right, so better to go with one stuck on the top

Gauge pods that fit in the centre speaker cover are popular, here is an example:

There is also a Tri-Power dual pod but their web-site appears to be undergoing a rebuild at the moment:
http://www.tripower.net/
Both do RHD versions and have shipped to the UK.

Kevin, excellent. First one looks good, although I don\'t particularly want 3 gauges.
Found the Tripower one with a bit of help from Google here (http://www.tri-powerperformance.com/paypal-page/pod-home.html). This looks good also, although it looks like it only houses 60mm gauges, which are less generally available than 52mm ones.
I didn\'t even realise the RX7 had a centre speaker. Do they all have them? I\'m getting a Type R.
Ta, Andrew
I think the centre speaker is only on the newer models, but Im sure someone else will know for definite...
another option (a mate of mine has done this on a couple of his cars, inc. his current ford ka) is to remove an air vent from the middle and put a gauge in there mounted on a flat pannel... ...works particularly well on the Ka, as it has round vents and they are spot on size for a tacho (which isnt std. in the main dash)
He is currently looking for a decent boost gauge, so any info you guys might have on good, small, cheap(ish) boost gauges would be welcome
b :)
Andrew,
I had the Tri-power but wanted 3 gauges so changed to the Flyrx7 one. Both take 52mm gauges, the Tri-power can be sanded to take larger gauges. Apart from the number of gauges the main difference between the 2 is that the Tri-power has a textured finish like the dash whereas as the flyrx7 one is smooth like the binnacle. Both are good.
The centre speaker is in all 3rd gens.

Another way of sourcing some nice Japanese parts is via some of the good online shops such as Taka Kaira Inc. I have used these guys a few times and have never had an issue, it is very easy.
Check them out here Taka Kaira (http://www.takakaira.com)
Trust make a very neat twin pod meter panel for the A-Pillar, they are always a perfect fit, so look very neat.
I think they are for sale on TK for about 7,900 yen.
Once the page loads up just click on Performance Parts and then on Trust, go to their Meter Series and it is there.
Hope this helps,
Shaun.
Andy, here are some pictures of the pod I was talking about.

Here\'s another picture.

Last one.

Hi
Anyone know where you can get those centre speaker two gauge ones in the uk. dont really like the thought of ordering from abroad for such a small thing.
Wouldnt mind one of those on an rx7 when it eventually comes!

Henning does group buys of these, and may have some left.
