Title: Hylomar
Post by: fly on April 21, 2008, 04:28:03 AM
Yet another question :o  but i was told recently by an rx7 specialist that he never uses Hylomar and uses a Wurth product instead, i was under the impression that Hylomar was the only choice for water seals etc, so what is the truth?

thanks!

HYlomar is just very difficult to get in single tubes. You need to order it by the package.

There are plenty of other similar products that do the job just as well

I bought some hylomar a couple of years ago in a single tube. Can\'t remember where from, but was straight forward purchase. Halfords I think.

I\'ve just bought a tube of Hylomar last week, no issues whatsoever from my local tool / part stockist

we use hylomar on the aircraft engines so if its good enough for the aerospace industry then its well tried and tested to extremes.  There are different varieties so make sure you get the right one for heat range etc, as they do have different properties.  We also use a high temp range of silcaset, we use this to seal the vapourisers and combustion chamber items to the main core.  Temps here are anything up to 1800 Deg.  The stuff never fails. One reason why i use even basic household sealant for exhausts and joining engine items, works all the time.

Yeah hylomar will be fine, as previously said we also use it for aerospace applications at work all the time. Good for \'borrowing\' the odd tube. ;)
