Title: Valuation for my RX7
Post by: logicalChimp on April 16, 2008, 11:14:32 AM
Hi

I have a feeling my RX7 is currently undervalued.  When i took the insurance out, i just valued it at the price i paid for it (more or less)

Since then, i\'ve had the entire engine bay replaced, i\'ll be having the suspension done in a couple of months, and the interior tidied up (and rear seats removed).

Given i\'ve already spent around 2x more than i paid for it in repair works, and i\'ve got more to come, i was wondering how i should go about setting a value for it?

If i just tell the insurance company its now worth 15k, they\'re probaby going to laugh at me :reallymad, so i\'m guessing i need to get it priced up by a third party.

So: who do people go to, to get a valuation?

I think being a full club member you can get a valuation off here.
So have you changed over to Single turbo or are you on standard twins.
A mint Twin Turbo with a rebuilt engine gets around 7K.
A mint modified Single turbo with all the toys gets around 12K-15K

It\'s currently mostly standard Twins, with
* Uprated air intake (looks like Apexi, but according to Rotechniks it\'s not)
* Uprated exhaust
* full body kit, blended in (looks like a Veilside? C1 nose, but the rear spoiler looks like it\'s from a different set)
* 18" alloys (need to check exact size/spec)

It\'s getting uprated adjustable suspension when i replace the current worn-out setup, which i\'m guessing will affect the price as well.

given it\'s currently insured for just 4.5k, it looks like i need to get on the phone to my insurers

thing is most of those mobs add little to the value of the car, but they will add a bit to it. You have to look at how much you would have to pay to find a car in the same overall condition with similar mods and value your car accordingly. I have my car insured at about £5k which is much more than book value, but MUCH less than I have spent on it overall!

Only increase the value if it is agreed with insurance company and like for like, otherwise it is pointless as they will only pay out what it says in the glasses guide.

As Marks said contact Clive to save time send him whatever pics you\'ve got details on the car etc etc. His email address is clive@mazdarotaryclub.com (clive@mazdarotaryclub.com) or as you\'re in London why not go to the pub meet at Dartford so he can see the car in the flesh.
