lol they have insured me with all my mods declared and me telling them have 450bhp for the last two years on their classic type policy as I only use as a second car and limited mileage.
What type of policy did you go for?

I have just got off the phone from Mike at AON told him it was a second car and as soon as I told him the bhp was around 400 he said they couldn\'t cover me, without asking for any other details. So it looks like its back to A-Plan.

ive increased from 255 fly to 436 fly, they said they cant insure because the increase was too much, i then raised the point that they had insured people with much more power than me and they said they were cutting down on the amount of declaired mods for insurance purposes.

cant even go to a-plan as they dont do agreed valuation

I think maybe I was lucky that I insured with them a couple of years now at the same power level.
You could always run a lower boost setting hence lower power for road use and only have the higher power boost setting if you go on track.
I run at my declared power setting on the road (well actually lower) and only up it on the track where obviously they dont cover you.

That only leaves the ethical question of should a private citizen, through his legal obligation to have insurance, be dictated to by an insurance company what he can or can\'t do to his own private property in an alegedly free country? It\'s about time the insurance market was actually governed by some sort of watchdog (and, no I don\'t consider the ancient, toothless, incontinent Ombudsman much of a watchdog) because they have spent so long doing what they want free of legal constraint that they really do believe their own bullsh!t. Rant over!

How true...  :D

One thought though, and one I keep pondering on, is how different does the car need to be to be classed as a "kit" car?? Insurance would drop something chronic...
