As the title Says i am removing the engine of my FD , i am stuck with the gearbox , reading some of the other post i removed the inspection plate to reveal the bolts but i cant get the thing to stop turning long enought to get the thing off , any ideas , am i missing somthing
You must undo the Clutch Pressure plate from the Flywheel to remove the gearbox.
Jamb a big screw driver in the ring gear teeth throu the starter motor hole to stop the Flywheel turning wilst undoing the Clutch bolts, then prise the pressure plate off the Flywheel dowels untill all is loose .
Hope this helps.
that worked cheers matey , now the engine just doesnt want to come out , my arms hurt !!
Let us know how you get on mate, as a fellow northerner both Chris and I could pop round and give you a hand if you get stuck.
Are you rebuilding it yourself? If so, let us know if you need assistance.
Jus
cheers yeah got it out , broke the power steering plastic thing
yeah i gonna rebuild it myself , where about in the north are ya??
@Glen.Mclean
Do you have all the bitz and bobs to complete the rebuild?
What was reason for the rebuild, water or apex seal?

Good lad:), this is what i like to see, someone rebuilding a rotary, an FD aswell, themselves and of course another fellow northerner on the boards:cool (I\'m originally from Bingley, but don\'t hold that against me ;) ) Please let us know of your progress of the rebuild and take as many pics as you can and post them up here. Also let us know where you\'re getting the parts from and what parts you needed to replace. I feel this would benefit myself and alot of other peeps in the club if you could do this:D
Good luck,
Paul:)

Both Grizzly (Chris) and Myself have finished a complete overhaul on a Turbo II.
The kits we supply include Viton oil seals, teflon encapsulated water seals, very good quality (stress releved) apex seals and every gasket to complete the job.
We can also included an essential step by step video/dvd to help the home mechanic.
The rebuild kit is sourced from various contacts throughout the world.
We have discussed in brief on another thread

Glen, congratulations on getting the engine out.
Let me know how you go on the rebuild. I\'m doing this at the moment too. Got a bit stuck on the flywheel nut!! but a length of scaffold helps!!
Let us all know where you get the bits from.
Mike.

Water was the main problem , but the lower inlet gasket was gone too, couldnt get the engine on the stand though , i will work somthing out , i am going to get the bits from Pip he diagnosed the problem but i couldnt aford to get it done unless i did it myself
i will let ya know how i am going wif it , next step strip it down and clean it up !!! hope i dont break owlt else
Usually when the water seal fails it breaks the plates water seal groove into the water jacket. I will post you a pic on what to look for if you like.
Therefore, you may require a plate.
Let us know if you need any help.
Jus
yeah that would be good , i hope there is not to much wrong but if it is better now than a week after i put it back togeather
Hope your rotary cake doesn\'t need much replacing. Anyway, just let us know if you need any assistance.
Keep us all informed on your rebuild.

Nice one Jus, sounds like you enjoy making rotary cakes :cool, let me know when you\'ve got everything sorted for your rebuild kit, as i may be interested in it in the near future. If you could PM me the specs and the expected price aswell that would be great:D
Keep up the good work and again good luck to Glen with his rebuild.
Cheers, Paul:)
