has anyone had this happen to them before??? went for a drive today cars running great all the gauges work perfectly but i noticed that the mileometer/tripmeter has stopped working with nothing displayed... it was fine yesterday and when i set off today but not now.speedo still working and no other probs with the dials????
any ideas??
I have the same problem i think all i got is a dot.apparently whilst seaching this befor its usually a dry solder joint on the back of the clocks.
Yep got exactly this problem myself... I am heading for a house move but will dismantle the dashboard in June to see if I can find the fault. I\'ve heard it may be related to capacitor plague.

I thought I would do a "how to" if I can find the fault and will keep you all posted.
I am reluctant to change the speedo personally as I have heard of the milage being transfered with the clock rather than staying with the ECU - which makes sense.
Got a few other things to do whist it\'s all in bits too. Thought I would fit a start button and tart up the gauge surrounds, get the engine steam cleaned and sort out a vacuum leak with the turbos, fix the central locking, change the oil/plugs and polish the wheels - currently standard but should anyone want to get shot of a nice looking set of 17 or 18\'s then let me know!
Now I know I\'m not going win many friends with this but has anyone tried that carbon fibre look sticky backed plastic - i know it\'s a bit Blue Peter but since the instruments are out can it be formed into the curves of the dash to hide the cut lines?
i have this too. its been like that for ages.
pity as im suposed to do 1000 miles then go back to pip so ive gota tally up all my miles lol
so a how to would be great
It could be just the bulb has blown, or tht the bulb holder has cut through the tracks on the pcb or that its lost its earth.
I thought it was a dot matrix display... hence the remaining dot, so not a poor earth or a blown bulb, since all the elements would have to blow! more likely an electronics problem in my opinion. Since a dot is displayed (mine is at the top of the display just right of centre) it\'s getting power too.

On the ones I\'ve worked on (FD3?? the ones tinker puts V8\'s in) they have a bulb behind the lcd if its blown you won\'t see the display
Does your stereo still work? Fiddled with any electrics recently? could well be fuse related :)
everything on mine works fine other than the odometer and no recent work on any electrics.
