Title: High Octane fuel.
Post by: DemonRx4 on March 29, 2008, 12:59:53 AM
I have a question...
I\'ve been running my 88 EGI on high octane for about 350 miles roughly and i still haven\'t noticed any difference in performance or fuel economy which is the main reason for using it.

Do you reckon i should continue and hope that it\'ll start to make a difference? and does anyone else use the stuff with a noticeable difference?

I wouldn\'t of thought you would make any more power on your car unless you do something to take advantage of the higher octane... i.e run a bit more advance on your timing.

Fuel economy .... hahahhahhaaaa it\'s a rotary so forget it  ;)

You wont get an improvement like you do with a boinger. A rotary is too sesitive to knock so it won\'t advance it\'s ignition like other cars do.
The main reason is to reduce the chance of knock but i don\'t know what ocgtane fuel they used in japan in 1988.

The EGi has no knock sensor etc, if you want to get some advantage from the higher octane then you will need to advance the timing a little :yes

Would an ECU pull not help?
