Post by: DR SCHNITZEL on March 26, 2008, 10:35:16 AM
Im uprating my fuel system with a fpr which i got off ebay £30 and a walbro fuel pump ebay £85 also.

Will i need my pfc remapping or will these just perform as the standard items?

then its 1600 secondaries and single turbo in a few months

ta hoping to make 440 hp at the fly i have all other supporting mods

oh and thats afetr ive paid for my new engine too

You need to check that you set the base fuel pressure to the same as stock, I forget what that is though..

then you should be ok..

Be careful with cheap FPRs mate, I saw those on ebay a while back before I bought my FSE, for something like fuel I wouldn\'t wanna risk it, you buy cheap, you buy twice...its ok with a piston engine if that runs lean...you know what it will do to a rotary! Save a few pounds on 1 componant, but then cost £3k on an engine rebuild..eeek

I would go with the \'buy cheap, buy twice\' advice as well - i\'d also have thought it would be wise to get the fuelling checked, and check that, when set, the FPR provides the same pressure all through the range.

Personally, i\'d have no qualms about using a Walbro in my car whatsoever - so you could bung that in.

i was wondering with these fprs there isnt exactly much to it is there. whats adjustable exactly and how does it fit, and what vac line do you plumb into the top of it.?

Does anyone run a bigger bhp car with just teh standard fpr with bigger f pump and injectors, is the fpr actually needed??

also does anyone know a good how too page for a fd and uprating the fuel system with pics??

would be useful

I just don\'t want something running higher pressure though it to break or get stuck at a low pressure thats all

I would leave the standard pressure regulator on if i was you mate, the standard regulator is mounted to the end of the secondary fuel rail so to fit a new one you\'ll need to remove this and then tap the end of the rail so you can screw a fitting in the end to run the fuel line off of to the regulator, then you\'ll have to run some fuel hose from the return of the regulator to the steel pipe in the right hand corner of the engine bay.
It\'s a bit of a pain, especially if your planning to upgrade to 1600 secondaries soon! Your better off buying a kit that will come with 1680 injectors, secondary rail, Pressure regulator and all the hoses/fittings you\'ll need to fit it easily!
Hope this helps!

Just bought kg parts secodary fuel rail, so hopefully nice a rich running for many miles to come, going to run it on standard twins for now though and maybe go to .9 bar from .8 on my new engine. sterling advice all
