Tried to fit a carbon bonnet on my rex today and it does not fit seems that the bonnet catch wont move down far enough to bring the bonnet in line with the bumper it sits about 7mm to high any ideas why.The bonnet came off a 93 and fits fine mines a 95 and dont fit at all no difference is there?:2Confused
you need to move the bonnet catch up or down.
Moved it down to its lowest setting thats when it was about 7mm to high : /
push real hard, bonnet should bend a little hehe
run without a bonnet catch! just use aerocatches and a padlock!
or locking aerocatches
use lots of duct tape :D
Big lass - sit on bonnet - sorted ;)
the car might have had a light knock in the past. if thats the case it will be relatively easy to bend the slam pannel holding the catch into place. its not like you have to bend it a long way. you wil prob be able to do it with a mates help. failing that just take out the latch and re - drill the holes in a lower location.
job done!!
Its possibly the bumper i\'ve had that problem in the past where i\'ve had a bonnet sit very good with standard bumper and then fit aftermarket bumper and it all goes tits.

Cheers for the replies :Thumbs-up 100% sure its not the bumper as i have had three different bumpers on and the bonnet never needed to be moved its allways been spot on also 100% sure its not been crunched at some point I was just wondering if anyone had found this before on a aftermarket bonnet and how they fixed the problem or if there was a difference in years to how the bonnet sits one thing i did notice the car the bonnet was coming off was missing its middle support bracket for the latch im guessing this must be how the catch is moved low enough to fit it seems a bit naff to me if thats what you have to do to get it to sit right
anyone got some gaffa tape i can borrow or a big lass:rollin
any pics bud? does the bonnet lock so just sits higher than the bumper when its shut?
not got any pics of it right now but i know someone who might have a pic of when we test fitted it locks fine fits everywhere else fine just sits high at the front

mines a 93 i did think about elongating the holes for more adjustment but i have to give it a bit of gentle persuasion to shut it now
i still think you should try the fat chick approach :Thumbs-up

Could be a few things,
Ask the previous owner if it fitted his car ?
First thing I would do is unbolt the bonnet catch on the body completly then see if the bonnet shuts with no catch as this will show if this bonnet is ever going to fit.
If it does fit then you have two choices, either remove the catch on the bonnet if its not bonded in and have it cut and welded or cut slots in the catch on the body to drop it then use washers to clamp it back on.
Lastly if you have a standard front you should be able to stand at the front of the car and pull up the edge a bit as this is something I have done on both RX-7\'s and RX8s to line up the front panel to the bonnet line

And make sure you take pics while arranging it for the minger on your car 2008 competition! :Thumbs-up
could your fit some washers under the front bumper holes to lift it inline with the bonnet?
sorted holes on the latch and support bracket needed to be elongated chargespeed carbon is fitted :Thumbs-up
also fat bird, gaffa tape and hammer helped too:Laugh
oi, i am not a fat bird you cheek fook
You should ALWAYS use bonnets pins on GRP/CF bonnets (back up to the main catch or not).. Have been a few nasty accidents due to the GRP/CF catch not being able to withstand an unfortunate crosswind!
Besides.. they look cool :D
