i have jst bought a rx7 inport from japan and wsa wondering how easy it is to do a service my self. i have seen self servicing packs for about 120 quid and was thinking of having a go. is there anything that may give me probs. im no machanic but will have a go of taking anything apart.
the fuel filter is a pain in the butt, It above the diff you need hands of a five year old and a lot of patience to do this most people reckon about two to three hours your best bet is to put it on a 4 poster instead of laying on the floor. plugs & oil filter are a piece of pi$$, you will have to take the intake elbow off to get at the plugs. Belts are fairly easy but the belt that drives the alternator also adjusts at the air pump. coolant is quite strait forward their is a bleed screw on the bottom of the rad under the AST feed nipple. i think that\'s every thing but if it\'s not I\'m sure some one else will fill that in for you.

thanks i may attempt it dont sound to hard. is there any special nools you need to take these parts off or are they just normal nut and bolt type fitting?

Not really
I\'ve changed them loads of times you can reach down from the top or up from underneath without havign to remove anything.
i suppose you can but I\'ve got very big hands & arms so it was just easier for me. and from underneath you can swing a cat
I\'ve big arms and hands too, I\'m 16 stone odd, either way works well just depends how you want to attack it.

Well there\'s two FD\'s in Hereford,one in Abber and a load round Bath/Bristol. Did post on your other thread some info about local clubs etc. :)

There is one in blackwood and a couple in swansea.
1st monday of every month at the toby jug at cardiff gate there is a japwales meet. I usually head up there but my cars off the road so will be taking something else next week. Come along they are a friendly bunch.
I drive past ebbw vale most days going to work in tredegar so you have probably seen mine

think its about half 7 and usually has about 20-30 cars but the weather is getting better so who knows maybe more, it seems to be growing.
Next meet is the 7th April
I\'m in undy just outside newport. Oil change is a piece of cake, havent attempted the plugs myself yet got them done at WGT, belts were done before I bought the car and the coolant I\'ll be attempting in the next week or so.

Come off on the junction marked \'services\' (jct 30 i think)
take the second exit on first roundabout down to the the next roundabout then take first exit and its the building on the right opposite side of the third roundabout to the petrol station.

i work in cwmbran so i go dwn the valley dont think i have seen you before. i have seen a red one coming from panteg roundabout up towards mcdonalds in pontypool. is he on here. i think it is standard but it makes hell of a noise when he hits the staight. makes me look every time.lol

is wgt a garage around here i dnt know what are the good ones when it comes to rotary engines. i work in cwmbran so any good ones around that area would be a great help.
my mates is really gud for basic stuff like oil change, plugs, he does mine all the times, evan done dif and gearbox oil change.
Im livin in cwmbran now, aint seem ur rx around but seen the red one! all the time lol i drive a 96 white one.

year used to go dwn blackwood years ago untill the police went overboard didnt have a rx then though had a focus. is it still bad for police? they had cameras on top of a car flming the cars as they go dwn the main street.
i aint been dwn for a while since i moved but heard its stil as bad. i used to drive a orange mitsy colt, with a lancer GSR engine in it lol.

nothing really was going to get a quote for a sevice on it. if it was to expensive i was going to attempt it myself. reading this site has worried me about things going wrong lol so i thought i would get a idea where to take it before i get any problems. lol
yeah take it to a company like WGt or what ever one u want to, so they can have a once look over to check, then in the long run like oil change and plugs cause u need to do them alot, do them urself lol
with mine basic services my mate do it for me, but big things take it to a company lol just mine opin tho.

I work in cwmbran....seen a white one with gold wheels a few times but I drive the Missus FTO back and forth to work as the rex is to expensive although I do occassionally come to work in it.
