I would hardly say its "popular". It has been done, but do it properly you are looking at about 12-15K I would have thought.

in the process of building one now, but as Martin said popular is a bit strong. More of a sort after conversion.

thats what i was thinking as i havent seen one and have only heard of one car having it done sounds like to much hassle as it cant be as straightforward as they make out plus you could prob get the same sort of power out of a 13b for a lot less

Oh and it\'s a 20b RE engine not an REW. I have the twin rotar one 13b RE enginge in my Rex and you make lots of power.:eek

Yes you can get lots of power out of the 13B but you get more torque form a 20B.

Its not an over complicated conversion once you have a suitible subframe. There are a couple of approachs you can take. Either sit the 20B in the same position as the original 13B, or you can opt to move it futher back. When you moe it futher back it get complicated as you need to alter the fire wall, transmission tunnel, modifiy the prop shaft for the shorter length.

There are many less off the shelf mods for the 20B availble in the UK and most of the turbo conversion that you can get in the states don\'t fit becasue they don;t have to worry about the steering shaft, being that they drive from the left of the car. So any turbo mods need to be alter or custom made. Pullies etc you can use a combination of 20B and turbo 2 bits as they have the same front housing.

But from a cost point of veiw if you where to make a street ported single turbo 20B you need to consider
Aftermarket ECU that suites the 20B
Getting a 20B
custom manifolds
Modified intercooler piping and rad piping
The extra costs of getting a 20B rebuilt over a 13B
Subframe
bumpsteer correction
+ all the other bits you need to support like fueling etc

Not the cheapest way to get huge power but very effective when you have it.

do a search on here and you will find people that have done the convesion. It has been done on qute a few other cars too, but they seem not to care so much about handling poperties and more about HP figures and going fast.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo the average person who even does th emost simple of mods to their fd, like a single turbo etc will be too scared to nail it into a corner. People need to get over this and start concentrating on what they really want, which is acceleration.
Not slagging off peeps that lke going around corners but how many fd owners actually rag their cars in a competant fashion around a track???
weight distribution is just another pub fact like who has the most hp or the biggest turbo.
 cheers,michael.
