Post by: interloper393 on March 23, 2008, 08:19:45 AM
Well after the car got the thumbs up and remap its time for "Project Sort All The Sh!t out" lol..
She arrived with no rear interior, the stereo hole was just filled with e01, fan, turbo timers/controllers ect with a fc commander just thrown in there... the bodykit was the usual japanese fitment lol.. double sided tape and 9" screws holding it on lol.. batterys also just been relocated into the boot so have to make a box and tidy it all up, engine bay im going to paint all the pipes n things gloss black as im fed up with polishing everything lol... erm.. wheels need a quick polish, possibly repainting the centers black.. full inside valet and a exterior poorboys 3 stage machine polish.. and she`s good to go lol.

Pics to follow :King :King

muhahaha.. k heres todays antics :D

First of the wheel nuts were too long for me to use the centre caps so they all got changed over, looks way better :P

B4

After
(http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/ooomoo/003-8.jpg)

next was the stereo section, heres it beforehand lol
(http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/ooomoo/100_0722.jpg)

Took a mould of the greddy unit and built a custom holder from fiberglass, also used the stereo surround just to keep it flush and tidy :D still needs a bit of sanding to straighten a few edges..

Just finished making a f/g battery box, n just waiting for the mould of the boot floor to dry so it fits perfect on the lumpy bits.. a few bits of bracing just to stop it moving aboot.. then onto the lid fabing..

O n this is a custom vent i made fer the skyline :) it`ll sit flat just above the twin hks filters iv just fitted...

Enjoy..

i thought a greddy e01 was a contrller for emanage? but you got a pfc... confused....
good tidying up work tho, i know what you mean with jap mods just being slapped on, the gauges in my car are a mess.
Title: Project Tidy :)
Post by: interloper393 on March 23, 2008, 01:59:39 PM
iv got both bud.. im just greddy (see what i done there :P) lol.. i reckon b4 i got the car is was running a single, then removed b4 selling as the twins didnt run plus the exhaust is 4" all the way through..
Title: Project Tidy :)
Post by: ENVYD on March 23, 2008, 02:38:27 PM
all looking good mate! carnt wait to see it finished! and i didnt relise you had to have a emanage to use the e01 :S
Title: Project Tidy :)
Post by: Timmy on March 23, 2008, 03:07:22 PM
nah i think you can use it straight up as a boost controller, but it is similar to the commader for a pfc ie, can map the emanage with it. It\'s very expensive piece of kit if you\'re just going to use it as a boost controller.
Title: Project Tidy :)
Post by: interloper393 on March 23, 2008, 03:51:37 PM
well the box is almost finished, need to sort the lid edges and mould the base into the box for strength but she`s all wired, just need to cut round the carpet to finish it up, then decide on triming in carpet or to paint...

yeah the greddy was used as a boost controller but now its done through the fc, so its more a fancy boost gauge.. not bad for £500 :S

Bits required prepped, painted and fitted,,

Mazdaspeed rear spolier (currently black)

Mazda standard sideskirts (primed but cracked primer due to rubber flex)

Apexi front bumper (from yourself)

Autoexec rear diffuser (currently black and has small crack)

Would this be ok?

That\'s well good, mate. Most ingenious use of the (very limited) space in a FD! Gives me an inspiration as to where to hide the control units for my new gauges. Now all I need is the talent to do it! Have you checked how often you whack the controllers with your elbow yet, though?
Title: Project Tidy :)
Post by: interloper393 on March 28, 2008, 06:26:00 PM
yip thats why its angled :D no elbow knocking plus if i did then the smoothed curve at the back dosnt catch.. im brainy :S

Now onto the commander.. o it never ends lol..

Right im a cheap as so i use everything i cn find :yes

So take one removed arial :)

Remove the end cap.

Grind and sand it smooth and to reduce the width as it wont quite fit, but not too much so its loose.

Posistion the commander, the angle on the arial is perfect.

Hi Craig

Just to let you know I am leaving for me holidays for two week next wednesday and not back until 26th May. Just wondered if you could take my car over that period to fit the items we discussed? If it would be a problem we can arrange it for when I get back... let me know bud. I would drop it at your house but its not got any tax or MOT and the diff is buggered..lol. I have a spare sitting in the garage if your up for that challenge aswell?

Cheers

Craig

Sorry mate but not interested in the moon on a stick just now but will let u know, could come in handy....how much bhp do u reckon i would gain? lol

Yea... i would trailer the car there due to no tax n mot. It will drive in and out a garage fine, it just \'clunks\' a fair bit when turning but nothing to worry about. I was trying to get diff done and t&t before hand but just not had any time recently. Just thought it would be good to have somethin to look forward to when I come home!

How do you get your fibreglass so thick? Do you just lay loads of coats down or have you got really thick matting?
Title: Project Tidy :)

i use 1.5oz mat i think it is bud, bought it for £25 and comes in a huge roll (like a carpet lol) i went with 4 layers on this, most things you make a need at least 3 layers depending on its application.

any questions u cn giv me a ring and i`ll talk ya through it :)

interloper 393, what do you use under the fiberglass to stop it going onto the thing you are using as a mold?it looked like clingfilm but i though that would melt from the heat generated from the fiberglass?cheers rob

Is there no end to the mans talents? Not that I\'m feeling jealous or inadequate whenever I read this thread, lol...

How did you bring the lip up on those wheels, dude? Do you just grind it back and polish, or build it up with weld or something? And was there a gasket between the two parts of the rim, or are the bolts just done up really tight and the air stays in by a mixture of luck and magic? I need to do my spare set of split-rims, but they\'re only scabby winter wheels, so I don\'t wanna pay a refurbisher a fortune (done that with my decent wheels and got ripped off to the tune of £800 only for the lacquer to go through).

For £30 a pop it\'d almost be worth driving them up to Scotland meself and begging for you to do \'em!

yip just lots of masking tape and a few layers of clingfilm just to stop any over drips, ideal stuff to use is tin foil, you cn then dab it with a brush and get the exact shape.. :)

I just sand back the scuffs with 80 grit disc, then work up to 240, wet n dry with 400 by hand, then use a bench grinder with a 10" polishing kit wheel (theres 3 in the kit)

And was there a gasket between the two parts of the rim, or are the bolts just done up really tight and the air stays in by a mixture of luck and magic?

I use the force dude :D lol there just bolted but there sealed with a jelly glue stuff, just a matter of some black sealent when re-assembling um.

Is the breaking down of these wheels simpy a case of undoing the bolts?

I\'ve the identical wheels to you and on one the seal has gone between the outer and inner rim. Need to get it resealed but thinking of doing it myself if it\'s not that hard to do!

Post by: interloper393 on May 14, 2008, 04:12:52 PM
the seal on these is just a run of jelly like glue, its easy to remove n split, you`ll need a 12point socket tho for the bolts.. and also a few tubes of black sealent.

Easy to get the sealant? Any particular one, or would some standard silicone stuff do it?
