Here is a pic of a project we are working on.

Thats a bit mad looking :D
should be just slightly quiter than concorde on full thrust with thos socks and exhaust:D
:King
Got any of those going begging Carl? I could find a home for one :D
3 rotor renesis?
4 rotor P P isnt it...looks loud
it is a 3 rotor! looks a bit decieving with 4 exhausts
Look\'s the dog\'s carl
I can only see 3 housings. Being a renesis the exhaust ports are in the side plates instead, so somewhere in that lot, 1 rotor has 2 exhaust exits..or summat like that lol
does look that way,
Looks like each rotor has two exhaust ports, one either side of the rotor.
How\'s you motor robbie? aint seen it move for age\'s
wow, looking fab. What would the price on a setup like that be ?? Would love it in the 1st gen :D

The diy rebuild is doing great mate. Got about 4000 miles on the engine now including 180 miles on the ring:cool Car has no ins, tax or mot right now. Just gotta get pip to email me my map cus the pfc has reset itself  . Its going into storage somewhere else soon cus 3 chavs in a sapphire cossie were eyeing it up the other day so im keeping a close eye on it. Plan is to get it back on the road for summer

Fair play! that\'s the only problem with having your car so close to the main road and dudley!! place is full of ****s
Got mine mot\'d last week and hopefully taking it to carls soon for a map. have to meet up when it\'s up a running mate
Each rotor does have two exhaust ports.
We built this one to keep the noise down to an acceptable level for drifting.
The side exit exhaust ports as opposed to peripheral exhaust ports do keep the noise down.
It sounds great.

It would be pretty expensive.
we have hand made all of the inlet manifold and exhaust, the throttles are custom built too.
I think that this is the first triple rotor renesis anywhere. The ones in the RX8\'s in the States are actually 20b periheral port engines.

This certainly is another interesting project for you carl, but why build "the first triple rotor renesis" for drifting when a nicely tuned twin set up would of been fine.I dont know if the car is a customers but its surely going to end up one expensive drift car. With the developments going on in 13b tuning(i.e sportys) just imagine unlocking the power in a project like this, with a man of your experience that is what i would like to see:D

Not much point in only drifting for 6.9 seconds at a time!:yes
:burnout

so the shaft through the middle of the rotary is a special piece when you add rotors ie 3 or 4 rotor engines or is it something made.i only ask as im still in love with the sound of the scoot quad rotor on you tube

Shaft is custom made two piece design.

Yep definately looks like a massive job ! Please attach a sound clip or youtube vid once its running so we get to hear it running :D

Hi Shaun,
It is running, have done around 25 miles on it so far.
Hope to put up a vid in the next few days.

Sweet! If you need a test driver carl, i\'d be happy to offer my services! :D

Could a mod delete some of the above repost please! ^
That engine looks pure work of art but it will be more artistic once we see her drifiting with it:burnout
When/wheres it going to be drifting? is it doing D1 this year or some thing?
Will be good to see a RX7 in the UK drifting scene as I don\'t think I\'ve seen one yet

Ahhhh, so thats what been holding up that more important build you\'ve been doing ! :D

The lad that owns that car is on Driftworks isn\'t he Carl ? Looking forward to seeing it at a few events this year...
It sounds pretty awesome I can tel you.
Mmmmm lurverly!
Waits for vid :)
vid vid vid Carl, we must get to hear that thing !!
is that the car from newcastle that was aiming to be at the drift event at teeside aquadrome??
looks very smart carl
btw we need vids :D
I am waiting on Kev for the vid as he took one at the weekend.
I have driven the car quite alot today and Peter the owner has taken the car and driven the 180 miles back home with no probs.
It is pretty quick, quicker than a modded twin turbo FD.

Carl
Its different and shiney, so hows it fueled, EFI?, I cant work out or see where the throttle butterflies are, more close up pics of the fuel and butterfly system please

Its on individual throttle bodies - the billet bits after the blue trumpets, you can just see the shaft thats goes through them. No bosses for injectors, but they couldve been added after, struggling to see how the stock injector holes are going to help with the additional rotor.
Assume its on EFI looking at the dizzy.
You said it was built to be quiet for drifting (as opposed to running a turbo 2 rotor) - are there noise regs in D1 then, if thats where its going to campaign? HAve to admit to never going to a round of D1GB as yet.
We are running custom 50mm throttle bodies, there are 6 injectors,3 primaries and 3 secondaries.
We have adapted FD primaries into the block for all 3 rotors and the secondaries are in the throttle bodies underneath.
The customer,Pete Barber, requested a 3 rotor N/A engine,so we had to build something that is both quiet and powerful,we have done just that by using all Renesis parts. The engine is VERY streetable. The rotors are 10 to 1 compression ratio.
You have instant throttle response in any gear or revs.
I can honestly say that it is the most exciting car I have driven in a long while.

Carl
would be extremely interested to see a dyno printout, see how it makes the power and obviously how much also...
:guinness
Some very cool stuff. Possibly something worth looking at. If you could get a 3d template printed off a Z-corp printer for a aluminium manifold with the TB built in .If it could be broken in to 3 then it would help and wouldn\'t make it silly money.
You could possibly do the same with the manifold too with a sand casting mould.
Some seriously interesting stuff.
Shaun
Oops, I\'m a design engineer using SolidEdge 20 and am currently investigating a 3d printer for work :Giggle However the one we want doesn\'t use the casting media !
Shaun
Hi Shaun,
I must have a word with you.
The car is very quick and very nice to drive, most fun I have had for a while.
Had it up to 7000 rpm a couple of day\'s ago,it\'s got so much useable torque that I keep looking for another 2 gears!
Regards
Carl
Very nice indeed Carl.
Thought you would say that :Giggle

What I\'d give for a lottery win!!!
Hi Carl
What sort of power output could one expect from a 13b PP NA using s5 rotors (lightened) and all supporting mods running on carbs? Also how streetable could this setup be made (in terms of economy, noise, idle and driveability)
about 250 bhp-300 on PP but the power band will be very high up so you will need to rev it not very streetable as they will hardly any power at low revs, plus the idle will be high eg 2K rpm. Its a race car set up 13b PP NA so forget fuel economy
Wow, that second vid is like music to my ears
I\'m lovin that motor Carl....great work again!
Regards
Oliver
Carl, hats off to you mate as you\'re certainly not afraid to explore and experiment in the rotary engine. Do you think that if Mazda got their act together, what with the now reliable Renesis engine, better fuel consumption compared to the twin turbo that its something they might explore ? Just thinking back to the good old days when Mercedes adopted a triple rotor unit it for their C111.
No horsepower figures as yet.
Will put them up when we dyno it.
Since this is the first one we have built all I can say is that I am very pleased with it.
Regards
Carl
Hoping it won\'t be the last :D Looking forward to seeing how it does on a dyno !
