its just started to do this today after washing and topping up the oil, when i stop the car and let it idle the revs surge up and down three times then settles at about 1100rpm also a connector of somesort is dangling in the middle of the car it is a plate wit a thick wire going to it an a thin bit of metal out of the other side will post a pic when i work out howany help would be appreciated cheers:Hammer
The sensor that is danglinn - it\'s by the exhaust, right? Slightly forward of the back of the drivers door? Sounds like the Cat heat sensor - not sure that should cause your poor running though?
Hunting on idle often seems to come down to a split boost pipe in the rats nest or similar.
the car has an apexi fc fitted the idle is set to 900 but as i said since seeing that cable dangle from the middle of the car the idle has been jumping and eventually settling at 1200ish also noticed that when the lights are on it doesnt surge the revs it just holds at 1200rpm
ahh that might be an earth cable prob?
any ideas on where to start im taking it on my m8s ramp tommorow night
I think there may be an earth wire that is connected to the cat to cat back, well there is on mine,
i think mine has a decat on it will it still have the earth point? if so hopefully that is the one dangling down it has two holes on it and a metal thingy (sorry cant think of a word to describe it) ive tucked it up in a trim panel so it doesnt knock on the road any more
ive got a pic but how do you post pics?
also noticed that on the controller in the check part, that the cat is always blank should it be highlighted??
The Earth point on the exhaust shouldn\'t affect the Idle  It certainly doesn\'t on mine :wack:
the sensor that was dangling was a cat sensor but as having a decat the sensor was held against the exhaust with a very state of the art attachment......
a jubilee clip lol so just tucked it in the clip and gave it another tighten is there meant to be a proper connector for it????
the idle problem is sorted except i made the mistake of resetting the apexi fc :spank thinking it could have devolped a prob and the default map would sort it but that didnt work it turned out in the end that a pipe had came off the inlet manifold the one for a boost gauge...and before i get slated for it i dont have a boost gauge in the car except on the commander screen but if i had one wouldnt have gone through the hassle of resetting the pfc:o

After searching on here for sometime, i gather the best thing to do is to take out the drivers seat, pull the wires to the cat sensor up through the floor and join them together, this will apparently allow the heat light to flash as a knock warning,
Bad luck losing your map on the Apexi, but then if the sensor was still hanging around underneath perhaps it was mapped for the cat and a de-cat pipe fitted after, perhaps you could find out from previous owner.
Bob
i have been getting that heat light a few times but when it goes off the knock sensor reading is never higher than 50-65 what else does the heat light pick up????
im sure the de cat was fitted after the fc as the last owner put it on but he werent the one to have the fc fitted so will need a remap anyway really
its started playing up on idle again
this may be a stupid question but where is the rats nest? ive had a look but cant see it i must be going blind
its weird as it doesnt always do it but it does eventually settle and drop down to normal idle revs
any ideas anyone?:god
you cant see the rats nest without removing the inlet manifold. its uder that. removing it is your best bet.
