Title: Rev counter gone nuts on my FD?
Post by: probedb on March 16, 2008, 12:51:48 AM
Hi all,

Had a drive in the car today and I noticed the rev counter wasn\'t working or was fixed around 1k. Over the course of the journey it slowly moved round and then when I switched off it\'s settled on the wrong end of the dial.

Anyone any thoughts on this? PFC commander is reading fine and looks like everything else on the dash is ok.

Ta!

Paul.

Bugger. Think I\'ll see about an aftermarket counter then cos surely another second hand set will do it again?

You can take it appart and try and re-solder the connections. The only aftermarket rev counters are mazaspeed very expensive and discontinued. Unless you want to remove it and fit something like a sard stack meter set.

I think the capacitors go south on the back of the board. You could re-solder them with fresh ones. I think they go all bloated when the are dud. Been a while since I read about this so not completely sure.
