Title: New Owner, Type-RS!!!
Post by: SupraZed on March 10, 2008, 09:22:15 PM
Hi everyone my names Zia, just wanted to introduce myself now that I\'m an owner and not a lurker!

Drove up From Bradford to Edinburgh to buy Colin\'s (Colin from here) 1996 Type-RS.

The drive back was quite un-eventful, which is a good thing, and loved every minute of it.

Filled the tank up for £74 and drove 243 miles back at 80 leps and still had a quarter tank left which I was quite pelased with.  I\'ve hear some people barely manage 200 miles.

Car need a couple of bite here and there but starts up fine regardless, Will get it booked in with Pip for some compression figures.

Anyway, here\'s a couple of pics.

I\'ve just removed the links as it was just showing text, guess I\'ll have to wait till I\'m paid up before I can post up images directly, ho-hum.

Heres a couple of pics, just joined Photobucket which was surprisingly quick to do.

Spec wise, all I know is it\'s an RS;
Dual oil coolers,
Different suspension, harder, lower I think
Rear seats
Black Alcantara seats
17" Mazda wheels.

Other that the above I don\'t know what things are unique to the RS model, if anyone else knows then please let me know.

Cheers.

Good buy, sir, you obviously have a discerning eye to pick one in red! Welcome and all that!

MPG always seems surprisingly good if you can just sit at a constant speed on a motorway, there seems to be a super-efficient fueling spot at around 80-90 (on closed roads obviously, officer!) but even so you seem to have done especially well with that run. Looks like an aftermarket spoiler there, to add to your list. Is it RE Amemiya? Something like that, methinks.

Thanks Nik, red was my no. 1 choice for the fd followed by Black and Silver, managing to find an RS was just pot luck.

I think the rear spoiler is just a Mazda one, but was only available from 1996 onwards.

Can\'t wait to start using it regurlarly :D

that is an rsr rear spoiler i think, and its a good looking car mate.

if you fancy a run out at easter there is a race meet at york, have a look in the meets section.

i asume its all standard under the hood, makes a nice change.

Cheers Colin, appreciate it.

Matt, yes, it\'s totally standard, and will most likely remain that way for quite a while unless it makes more sense to replace something  with a better part, efini Y-pipe for example.

Would love to come out to the York event but I don\'t think I\'ll be using it yet, need to sort out a cat 1 alarm before I even think about taking out my garage!
