Hello all!!
My name Is Joni and I\'m from Finland.
after playing around with the mightn Charade GTti for the last 5 years, it\'s time to move on. I have just purchased a 1993 FD and i\'m the first finnish owner of the car aswell.

first of all i have read this forum for around few weeks now and still decided to ask what oil should i put in it? I see people talking about Minerals, but i rarely see any brand named. We have very poor service by Mazda for these cars so i\'m quite much depending on this forum. We never had the FD here as a new car. we have all major oil brands covered. Valvoline, Motul, Red Line, Mobil, Shell, Castrol. we have others aswell but these are very easy to get as they are common known brands.

I\'m asking this because i will get the car this week and i want to change the liquids and filters before  actually using it.

Also, can i use other than FD specific oil filter in the car? I see that we don\'t have the FD (suprise suprise) listed in oil filter catalogues.

Here\'s few pics of the car aswell. ENJOY

theres hudge debate over miniral and proper synthetic oils. not crappy 10% synthetic you get in most shops.

i use castrol mineral oil as thats what my engine builder told me to (pip @wgt) so its in his intrest to advise me on best oil as its under warenty.
but do a search for oil and you will get a load to read from both miniral and synthetic points of view.
welcome to forum and the joys of fd ownership.

I actually called our Mazda dealer and they have Dexelia oil in stock! I remember the guy said 5W-30. Now the only question is the oil filter, which they don\'t have in stock. he said that a 626 and 323 filter is the same one.
