Title: unleaded safe off boost??
Post by: karl_tate on March 08, 2008, 05:36:23 PM
i have to travel around 20 miles to get V-Power but i usually get one of the drivers at work to fill a two 20litre jerry cans.

i need my car tomorrow but its low on fuel, my question is will i do any damage or start causing damage if i put unleaded in but drive off boost??

btw single turbo if it makes much difference

thanks

karl

I believe you will be safe to run even on 95 fuel as long as you do stay off boost.

Did probably 10,000 miles on normal unleaded in the last FD I used daily, running a bar on a medium size single. Never used to ping, knock wasnt noticeably higher than on V Power.

Assuming you have an after market ecu being single turbo, I doubt your map is that on the edge that running unleaded for a while is going to instantaneously implode your engine.

Ofcourse, you makes your choices and takes your chances! Ask whoever built your engine if you\'re that bothered.

to be honest i dont notice much of a difference between super unleaded and v power.  I always put super in thou and have never used normal unleaded so not sure if it makes much difference
