Hi all
I\'m looking for info on the importance of the \'cross member\' in the bay of the FD.
Nearly finished my v-mount setup with it in place, but it may give me an extra bit of room if it weren\'t - I naturally assumed it was kind of important, but have noticed in this photo on another thread:

that\'s it\'s been removed.
What have all you v-mounters done with this?
Hard to say. I made a different shaped member when I stood my rad up. You could make something that would fit to hold it in place.
It will tie the front together at that point. Although my not doo that much.

That\'s what i thought - when i was sizing stuff up i must admit the only thought of removing it that crossed my mind was \'there\'s no way i\'m removing that, but would be good if i could! :D\'
But then i saw the above photo, and now i\'m a little confused - surely every little helps when it comes to structural rigidity.
Mines gone, removed due to not enough room and Pip at WGT did not bat an eyelid at the fact.
I do have a strut in place though.

I moved mine, but i doubt if it is structual as its far to flimsy.
Like Hamc said, far to weak to be a structural item, as far as I could see it was only there to cover the power steering pipes & give mounting points for the stock intake & interwarmer!!

Its made of about 20 gauge ally and can be bent and twisted by hand - if its structural I\'d be rather scared...
I ended putting an L shaped bracket made out of 2.5mm Steel when I swapped it. That will stiffen it up a bit. Always help for the chassis.
