My foam induction kit is oily. Is it supposed to be this way? I know some cotton cones are oiled to help collect the dust.

LOL, i don\'t think they are oiled to help collect dust, but to keep the finer particles of dust out of your engine that the filter mesh cannot filter itself ;)
I guess it would depend on if the oil looks clean or not?, you can buy cleaning kits for cotton type air filters that come with a can of oil type spray to apply after after you\'ve cleaned all the old gunk off.

mine, lower one at least, had a bit of presumably engine oil on one side, was there a thread a while back about this?, which a mate cleaned up & reattached. I\'ll probably look at getting a new set later in year but is there something i should add in mean time? I presume it\'s not too bad given some 7\'s seem to run without them altogether?

ie can you get the oil you add after, as per Wav\'s description, on it\'s own at all?
Cheers

I\'ve got a brand new ITG foam filter and that has no oil on it at all.
Thought it was only the cotton type that used oil ? might be wrong though :)
ITG (spongy kinda thing) filter i used to have on me scooby certainly weren\'t dry & i presume this kinda goo is what were describing as oil (http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/cwm/cwm/uhoh3.gif)
