I just fitted 1600cc secondary injectors I was thinking of getting the car mapped here so it drives then taking it upto wgt to let pip screw every last pony out of it but im now thinking maybe i should just skip the mapping here and put it on a trailer to get it there problem is the bugger is in a underground car park pushing it out of there is gonna be allmost impossible is there a way to change the settings in the pfc to get it to run long enough to drive it out and stick it on a trailer?
if you have just fitted secondary it will start and run fine to drive just take it easy, i would trailor it there though, saves petrol :D
edited......
well i started it for about 20 seconds just to see if it would run and it sounded poo with a load of white smoke : / should it run okey on the base settings the pfc has because thats what it is on? also fitted a fpr maybe i got that all screwed up for it to run like ****e doesnt sound great at all more like a lumpey v8 or something xD
Iirc you can change the secondarys to a max of 1500cc on the commander. This is what I did before driving it many miles to be remapped. As long as you take it easy on the way you shouldn\'t have any probs.
So you think if i change the setting to 1500cc and drive really slow off boost i could make a 3 hour drive to wgt?
Yeah just change them to 1500 on the commander and it should be fine to drive off boost!
cool thanks guys saves me a load of cash not having to get a trailer :D
u could always limp it to the motorway and then pull the EGi fuse and call the AA out?!
Pmsl never thought of that. So make that a 7hour journey :D

thats a good idea for future refrence!!!
You said you fitted an FPR???? Is it a rising rate one, it should be!
If so what did you set the base fuel pressure at without vacuum???? If this is not correct it wont run properly.

its a good question yes it is a rising rate one and i did set pressure with the vacuum hose disconnected to 40 psi but @ 40 psi it didnt seem to go any higher even with the adjustment screw turned almost all the way in I did notice however that the pressure increased to 50 psi when the vacuum hose was reattached on idol something isnt right here if the car should run fine at idol mine sure as **** dont its overfueling on idol and sounds like its been ported or something brrrap brrap brrap with plenty of white smoke any ideas why its running like this on idol?
What fuel pump are you running?
40psi is ok and yes the pressure will rise with vacuun connected so no drama\'s there.
Car was running fine until you fitted inj and fpr?
What mods have you got?
Did you remove the primaries?
Ok your new big secondaries wont kick in until around 4000rpm, so you can drive it below that rpm level and you will be just using your primaries injectors , that will be fine to get it to Pips, seems by fitting the FPR it has changed the fuel ratio and made it richer on idle and low down rpm, disconnect the vacuum hose on the fpr and lower the base fuel pressure down to say 32psi (40psi is a bit too high IMO for base pressure unless your motor is heavly ported) then reconnect the vacuum hose again it should run smoother.
What make fpr do you have ?
car was running great intill i fitted the new rail ,secondarys and fpr the fpr is a aeromotive one the whole fuel kit was bought from rx7 store this one here ----> http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/extremefuelfd.htm (http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/extremefuelfd.htm) ill try turning the base pressure down see if that sorts it thanks for the help and advise so far guys :cheers
ok did a bit of digging for ya to double check, stock base pressure is 37psi at 0 psi of boost, so disconnect the vacuum tube to the fpr and set to 37psi then reconnect, so on idle you are pulling vacuum so you will see fuel pressure drop below 37psi
thanks for checking around for me blitz I went and had another look at it. Before I did anything I turned the adjustment screw down on the fpr pulled the vac pipe and tried starting it again much to my surprise the fuel pressure shot up to 70 psi :/ quickley turned that bugger down to around the 37 mark put the vac pipe back on and it sounded alot better with much less smoke allthough its not going brrrap brrap anymore it still only sounds like its firing on one rotor and still a tiny bit of smoke is it possible something got damaged in the brief time it was running with high pressure it has not been driven at all just started and left running for no longer than a minute i would say
you wont have damaged anything, glad it sounds better though as it was defo overfueling on 70 psi bar pressure lol, the reason it probably sounds a bit lumpy you might have flooded one of the rotors or fouled up one of the plugs from running rich, I would let it run for a bout 15 minutes and it will clear itself blip the throttle a few times or go for a drive keeping under 4k rpm.
thanks blitz gonna take it round the block to see if it clears as my neighbours are starting to freak at the noise of me starting it then turning it off ;) thought 70 psi might be a tad high lol
well had it running for about 20 minutes doesnt seem to want to clear you should have seen the looks i was getting off people walking past lol (i live on a high street) pop, pop, pop, pop, brr, brrrr, brrbr,BANG,pop, pop, pop smoke coming out the back was trying not to laugh from the evil stares i was getting maybe i should just buy some new plugs hehe
SSSSORTED :D mental note to myself that little vacuum pipe on the back of the plenum DONT FOGET TO PUT IT BACK ON xD
dude where are my dues dont think your taking all the credit...
infact any of it!!! :spank
didnt see you under the bonnet finding it so bog off:p
glad its sorted, was going to suggest MAP sensor as it will smoke like hell and sound like its on one rotar with that unconnected.
lol you had the map sensor vacuum pipe disconnected ?? haha glad it was a easy fix, now drive it carefully to Pips
yeah I gave myself some of these :Hammer :Hammer :Hammer first things first make sure you put it back together right todays "im a doughnut award" goes to me :Giggle
