Title: dont know if i want the re-amemiya parts i ordered!
Post by: Johnerz on March 01, 2008, 07:13:34 PM
i recently ordered the following:

d1 shifter
column mount boost gauge
black shift knob
black drivers knee pad
response cleaner and alum panel
carbon look front and rear wipers
carbon outer door handles
carbon scuff plates
ast

ive received the shifter and the ast.  i fitted the shifter last night and now i dont know if i like it.  i think it looks odd - just a big black gear knob showing - might just be me but think it looks a bit out of place :S

after that i stared at the car and thought to myself:  do i really want to change all these parts??? my car is a 97 and is in beautiful condition and given they are not made any more why change a classic??  it was that thinkin that made me sell the mazdaspeed body parts that came on it!!!

dont know whether to keep it all or sell it as its all reversible lol!!!

help!!!  sorry for the rant lol

lol well its all down to personal preference, some like to change everything and some bits just for the sake of changing it, everyone has different opinions on different rx7s and different styles all depends on your personal preference, some love the stock look and wouldnt have it any other way

sometimes i look at some bits and think, i could change that but then i think whats the point just more money, problem with these cars you could go on forever canging things, some spend thousands and still arent happy and havent seen much of a gain in looks or performance

no probs mate.  ive decided im just gonna get rid of it all apart from the knee pad and boost gauge.  parts are due end of this month.

id be hoping to get back what i paid (ordered direct so paid re-a site price) since everything will be unused apart from the shifter which i fitted but dont like lol

Why not leave the shifter in and just put the leather gaiter back on so you can\'t see it ?

That way you still get to have use of the shorter throw lever and the look of a stock part.

I have received this so I can take a pic later and ill put that up in the for sale forum to keep mods happy.  id be looking for what i paid for it, again, i got it direct so itll still be cheaper than prices youll see on other sites and i wont be adding on any extra postage

this shifter dosent really shorten the shift mate, its basically the stock lever with about 2 inchs chopped off and a copper washer instead of plastic.  all the oem parts fit round it so it looks stock bar the gear knob.  i just think it sits too low and a bit out of place, just my opinion after fitting it tho.

sorry mate, 4 months on and they still havent turned up lol!  according to Inukai they were "leaving Auckland, CA (wonder if he meant NZ?) in a day or 2" that was about 5 weeks ago, so if they are on a boat hopefully they will be here soon.  i might keep the parts and fit them though, as i still might be forced to sell up, so wee things to make it more sellable
