Title: leather repairs/re colouring
Post by: cyman on February 27, 2008, 10:06:17 AM
i have never offered my services to anyone like this before but i may consider sorting out some leather repair kits for a simple refresh (to cover colour cracking etc) or i may offer some repair work and more serious re colouring just to club members if they can get parts or the car to me.

i am not talking about re trimming but repair and re colouring in the existing colour.

things i can sort out:

cuts
tears
cracking
peeling
general wear
in depth cleaning and protection coating

i may consider the odd special case to re/change colour of some panels if needed for eg centre back and centre seat panels to red leaving bolsters etc black.

my background is complicated but suffice it to say i have been an upholsterer for 20 years and a leather specialist for about 8 repairing all sorts of leather furniture etc in peoples homes and cars.

i have posted on here to get some reaction to see if this is something people need or are interested in.

please let me know if anyone is interested or any questions you may have.

cheers

Si

Would be interested in a ball park figure for a general refresh of a cosmo interior.  Could you pm me with an email address and I can send you some photos?

Regards
Jon

if i do the kits i will need to get some numbers up together.

this is not something i can buy off the shelf. i will have to gauge numbers put some products together, get some base colour matches for rex interiors and sort out an how to for you to do yourselves :D :D

its fairly simple if you have a head on your shoulders. the better you are with your hands the better the finish will be :Giggle :Giggle

d2bba you are the first interested in a kit so you are on the list

Quote from: Martinyany vinyl? I have 1 crack and 1 tear.

i can do vinyl but the results are very varied. vinyl is very thin and normally cracks because it goes brittle. you can repair it but i wouldnt like to say how long it will last could be weeks could be years.

also i would like to point out that i am not doing this to make a profit if i do the kits it will be for cost. i am only doing this to help out other members that may need a bit of advice/help/repairs from someone in the know. i only thought about it because i just did a quick refurb to the 2 leather front seats i got for my rex.

FD with red leather interior. Front seats have visible wear marks, rear "seats" and surrounding leather badly damaged by sunlight and age - ripped and faded. Would be interested in a quote.

Chris.

sorry guys looks like i cant help you. although i was offering to help out members and use my experience to get you the right products to sort out your interiors at no prfit this is seen as trading by admin so i will have to withdraw my offer as i am not a trader and i\'m not selling anything.

I wondered how long it would take also. It means you would have to charge a lot more to cover the costs of being a vendor and sell god knows how many. Had a similar thing last year.
