i have had a look at some of the threads for spark plugs and would like a bit of an check to see who is using what in there engine.
my rex is putting out around 300bhp and i want to get the best heat rating plugs for it.
obviously standard are ngk BUR9EQP and BUR7EQP but there are also these BUR8EQP available which are in between the 2 :D
i have read that some people run 9\'s all round but that it can be more prone to flooding. and some people use standard setup in mild tune form to be safe.
if you know what you use maybe you can post here along with approx power and whether it has worked better for you or not.
:D :D :D
Im running 7\'s and 9\'s pushing 320bhp. The car likes these plugs right now
run ngk 9\'s all round for 2 years started with standard bhp now 305 rwhp never flooded, main thing is dont start & stop the engine quick take it for a run to get nice & warm
most run 9s all round mate as do i.
get them locally for around £40 i think
8s all round
You can get the BUR9EQ ones but the better ones are the BUR9EQP ones. i know i shouldnt know that off the top of my head :spank
you can get 7s 8s 9s 10s 11s 12s you get the idea :p lower is hotter and higher is colder so higher is for higher performance and hotter running but absolute stock would be 2 x 7s (leading) and 2x 9s (trailing) but due to 7s being hard to get hold of 9s are widely used.

i understand how the plugs numbers work (used to be a mechanic)and the stock plugs reccomended. i am trying to find out what people use for there bhp and whether its gonna be a performance choice or just because like you say the nines are easier to get :chat :chat :chat
9EQPs are \'right\' for 90% of FDs. Running 1 bar+ boost, use colder plugs.
Running 9\'s all round too, which it seems to like, on standard twins, Apexi PFC, custom 3" exhaust with sports cat :)
Using HKS NGK\'s 10\'s all round :D
I use 2 x B9EGV & 2 x B10EGV NGK plugs, running about 400bhp, did switcg to 10\'s & 11\'s but they had a tendancy to foul up if i was sat in traffic for too long!
I use 4x B9EGV !
BUR9EQP very nice
I\'ve got 4x B10EGV surplus to requirements if anyone wants them. £25 posted.
I\'m currently running R7420-10s and 11s. Greddy branded but made by NGK.
Steve
9\'s all round for me ;)
Jono
As said above 9s are the ones you need,
You only ever need hotter (7\'s or 8\'s) if you either have an engine that has low compression that floods or you only go 1/2 a mile to the supermarket
You defiantly don\'t want any colder, indeed if you run 10\'s or colder you risk the car not firing up on a winters morning
Here is a link if you wish to buy 9\'s , I am told by our customers that we are the cheapest around for these plugs

Hope this helps
306 bhp and 9\'s allround with a hiccup
i run 10.5\'s in summer, but now as the weather has got a little chilly have switched to 9\'s all round as advised by clive and laeeq and it runs spot on...

Try sparkplugs.co.uk, they are usually the cheapest and deliver uber quick from experience. Note that there are BUR9EQ and BUR9EQP, the latter being the more expensive platinum variety.

same setup as me. i actually had b9egv in the top but when i cruised along in 4th or 5th around 60kms the engine would momentarly completely die and fire back up straight away with in a second. so put b10egv in the top and problem fixed.
there are cases of these egv plugs braking the ground electrode but very few, just dont use iridiums as they a fuse welded together and the rotary gets hot enough to make fall apart
