No im not gonna drive my car across a field lol.
Im bored at work so thought i would start a thread. this is a bit random i know.
my car tax is due and I decided that im gonna take my rex off the road for a while, it seems the only logical choice as I don\'t want to sell it! i only did 2k miles last year, and the market for them is pretty crappy at the minute so ill lose lots of money that i have spent on it may as well keep it for life now eh?
the MOT is also due in a couple of months from now so this year I\'ve decided that even though theres nothing wrong im still going to get my rx up with the best of them and make it feel like a new car.
I must be bored cos I have made a list of things to do before rotorstock!!
1. replace ALL bushes (including ALL the pillow balls),
2. get an uprated street clutch,
3. buy some dead cool suspension where you can electrically change the damper settings while in the car
4. fit my rear diffuser and then marvel at the finally completed exterior styling.
5. get the dash flocked in very dark blue
6. get some decent race seats and have them re-trimmed to compliment the rest of interior.
7. Fit a V mount alloy rad and intercooler and some bigger secondarys
8. get rid of the plastic ast
9. remove airpump etc
10. spray engine bay a nice satin black
11. do some engine bay bling
12. relocate battery into a rear bin
13 Fit the power fc
14. get her tuned up
15. may as well get it compression tested
16. MOT\'d
17. Taxed
18. totally waxoil\'d
19. fit a HID kit.
so it looks like this rex is gonna be off the road a while hopefully i should be ready for rotorstock!!!
who else is off the road at the moment and why? who else has got plans or "to-do\'s"?
sounds like a good list, mine is already of the road with a nice long list to complete before the summer, good luck :Thumbs-up
Mines off the road. Getting engine rebuilt. Also getting door and key sets replaced after some \'modifications\' to the ignition barrel.
EEP!!!! i have just worked out i need roughly £3800 not including labour for all that lot - may have to shorten the list slightly LOL.
hehe i was just thinking that lot you listed off might cost a bit
you can do mine right after!!! haha
Mine is officially off the road tommorrow. The insurance, tax and mot all run out 2moz lol. Im not getting it back on road untill a new clutch, pillowball bushes fitted and wax oiled underneath.
whats the wax oil underneath all about??? some sort of corrosion protection??
Quote from: sweetiewellswhats the wax oil underneath all about??? some sort of corrosion protection??
Basically yes, as it\'s name indicates its and oilly/waxy substance that is awful and a pain to apply, but does give some good protection for a couple of years.
Just as an offtopic, I notice that you have rota gtrs on your RX7. Did you use internal drive nuts or standard ones? It\'s just i\'ve got some black gtrs on mine and the nuts that were supplied are a pain as I cant get a proper socket over the nut to tighten properly as there is minimal space around the nut..... Plus mine are gloss black and tend to scratch really easily... which is a pain!
i just have the standard ones and i have the same problem, very tight getting the socket on and ive already scratched the **** out of the alloys but being silver you cant really see it much.
i will be getting mine back on the road this weekend :D
not quite as big a list as you but its been off the road for aorund 5 months including doing the work and simply winter.
fit 1600cc secondarys with rail, braided line and fuel regulator.
take the rats nest completely out
tidying the engine bay of any wires i didnt need + jap added ones
relocate alarm siren
re-wire head and 99spec lights
re-wire all the oil pressure, exhaust temp and AFR gauges
fit speed converter
fit front and rear speakers with sound proofing
respray all interior panels satin black
yet to fit new steering wheel and quick release
Mine\'ll be in for works (again!) as soon as the weather gets nice enough to get out on the bike more and go crazy ape bonkers! Might feel different if the air con\'d work in the rex, but since it doesn\'t maybe that\'s one of the things I should fix..can\'t face another summer boiling my spuds stuck in our lovely South Coast traffic jams!
The other problem is being poor as a church mouse, it\'ll all be stuff that\'s free or cheap to do. Heat shield for the airfilters first, I think

just get that big heavy air con removed to save some weight :Thumbs-up

I\'m very tempted, but then summer comes round and I remember why I want the \'king thing to work! Got as far as re-gassing it last year, then found the pump clutch doesn\'t engage, then ran out of enthusiasm. Trouble is, there\'s always something more exciting to spend money on instead.
You\'re right, I should just get rid of it, but what would keep my spuds unboiled then? I can\'t go sterile from heat damage yet, think of the loss to the human race being denied my gene pool! :Laugh
Actually, maybe that would be for the best....
I have an air con pump going spare if you want a placement! :D
So glad im not the only one in this boat. Ive just put a deposit down on a flat as well. it doesnt help the rex budget when you have to spend your money on something as mundane as a place to live haha.

Thanks for the offer, nikp, but I think I may be able to get away with just furtling with the airgap on the clutch a bit. (Furtling is a very technical term, obviously!).
When I can face dismantling everything from the engine forwards to get to it, and find out I\'m wrong, I may take you up on your offer! Tragic thing is, I just know that if I ever do sort out the pump the condenser will just p!ss itself the first time I turn it on anyway, but you\'ve got to try, I suppose
I was also thinking of doing this (was thinking of 12months for a full cleanup of the body, bushes etc), but was wondering what if anything you\'re doing to your engines, are they ok sat for that long?

mine didnt work properly anyways and if i get to hot just open a window :) can also then drool over that awesome rotary engine sound hehe
