Took my car for MOT This morning, and it\'s failed.
Apparently the ABS Warning light does not come on, so its failed on that (might just be a bulb).
Also the CO2 Emmisions were 7.31% & Hydrocarbons 3050. How can I get these down?
The car has no airpump, but I will put this back on, but will this really bring the emissions back down low enough as it is very high.
Last year the car managed to get through the MOT (although the airpump was still on the car), However it did have a redom ecu (If it makes a difference) on. Also I\'ve just rebuilt the engine and put an Apexi on there.
my fd passed with .2% c - your fooked me thinks. get the car to the state it was in last year matey
Well that\'s what I\'m doing now, I\'m putting the airpump back on, and will put the old ecu back on, but will that really make that much of a difference?
Have you had it mapped with the Apexi?
If not then is it not just that it\'s running on the mega rich base map?
I know how you feel mate, mine failed on saturday, and the emissions are the problem too. 5.3% instead of 3.5% :(
Has anyone got a pic of what the airpump looks like? I\'ve got no idea if theres one on mine...
It\'s above the tubo on the left hand side (when you are looking at the bay) behind the airbox.
That, and the alternator are driven off the left hand belt :)
No, the apexi hasn\'t been mapped so is running on base map

Cool, sorry to hijack, one more question, how can I check its working? Can\'t find any threads how to check its working?
If you get it mapped i would have thought you can get it to pass ;)
As for checking it\'s working - I dunno - I\'ve had my car 6 days and i ripped it out on the third :D
I\'ve put the air pump back on the car, I thought I wouldn\'t bother putting it back on when I did my rebuild because it\'s Decatted (ever since I had it) however it has the piping for the airpump welded on. I thought it was a high flow cat at first, but it\'s not.
I\'m goin to use a gas analyser to test it, but will it be sensitive/accurate enough to match upwith the test the use on the MOT.
you can change the fuelling on the ECU via the commander, i had the same problem with Emissions ( i did have the airpump on), PIP@WGT showed me how to change it , but was specific to my Remap, and it passed emissions and then i turned the fuelling % back up.

Thats the way to do it mate:wiggle :wiggle :wiggle :wiggle

It clicks in I think below around 3000rpm (the pump pully that is) it like an air con type pully thing! LoL
As for it working just disconnect one of the hoses and see if it blows/sucks, If you have an induction kit its very obvious as its quite noisy!
Another way to check may be to disconnect the supply plug to it, its a small gray 2 pin plug that runs to the unit, you cant miss it!
Cheers
Well I\'ve put the air pump back on and the car seems to be running a lot smoother, even when I forgot to put a hose back on fromthe airpump to the exhaust.
It no longer hunts like it started to this morning at the MOT.
Hopefully this with help bring emissions down once it is all hooked up properly again. But I just thought I would ask has anyone over here actually tried mixing isopropanol into the fuel to get the emissions down? Did it work?
It\'s just I ight do this as well just to make sure.
How did you fair with your MOT?
making sure the cars really warm helps with the emissions 2.. but most will not pass a mot with any exhaust mods.. a trick a guy told me was to pack some wire gauz into the backbox just for the mot, never tryed it tho but his passed with this :D
