Title: Standard RX7 Stereo.
Post by: ings on February 21, 2008, 12:44:51 PM
Hello

The stereo in my RX is competely standard, as is the speakers. Both of these sound terrible. Is this common, or is it something to do with my speakers or stereo blown? At the moment, I can only receive the lower band widths, so will need to upgrade or modify the ariel or unit.

Can anyone recommend a new head unit that will look good with the RX interior, i.e: not much silver, double din, possibly a monitor?  And then, can anyone recommend how to upgrade my speakers, what with, and where to put them.

Any advice would be great.

Many Thanks.

Dunno if it helps, but the speakers in the Lady are also Tam Kite!!!  They can\'t even deal with U2\'s "With Or Without You" let alone any banging trance!! lol

Some new speakers might be on the way to me soon methinks....

I don\'t like the Double Din look myself, IMO looks much better to get a twin-din conversion and go for separate stereo and/or monitor or cubbyhole for gauges etc.

If you want to keep the standard jap headunit (and I dont know why you would ;) ) you will need a wave band expander to get the full UK bandwidth.  These are a common flea-bay buy :)

Ive gone for a single din MP3 / CD and then you can go for a cubby box below (or DVD player in my case).  Standard 5 1/4 speakers fit the door with some minor mods to the original plastic speaker holders.

Failing that go over the top and get a custom system with new door pods and boot-build (like me!)
