Title: Dump Valve & Turbo Timer
Post by: liudodo on March 01, 2004, 10:43:47 PM
i just have two used items which bought from the ebay. can anyone give some ideas of installation in my 93 rx7 fd3s.  Are these easy to fit in car,  any wires i need to buy from the shop? How much cost the labour in a garage probably?

1.  The JDM HKS Super sequential dump valve (not SSQV)

2.  The Blitz Dual Turbo timer with boost gauge

attach some pictures

cheers

Fitting a BOV is easy.  It just replaces the nearest standard valve, but you will need to block off the other end of the pipe where it should recirc.

1st time I did it was a pain, but I can do it in about 5 mins now  :)

I used a plastic cork from a Champagne bottle - it was a perfect fit!

If you dont block the pipe, then it will suck air in through it bypassing the airfilter (and most probably drawing hot air too).

that looks similar to the TT i took out of mine so will be intreged which wiring you need to get them working as that\'ll mean i can pass mine on ;)

well im gonna sit on the fence and watch this thread - that TT looks like it had a pipe for the boost gauge aspect !

i wonder if you can just fit the thing for a boost gauge and not the TT ????

yeah it does actually look exactly like mine & similarly my boost guage pipe is just cut off leaving about 6" or so of pipe in the back of the unit but presume this can still easily be plumbed in & work presumably i think it\'s more the wiring which may prove more tricky i still have the bits which were left attached to my car so i may take a pikky of that tonight if it\'s of any use, doubt it but someone who knows what their looking at maybe able to help ;)

erm sadly not a lot of info to go off but it does look exactly like the one above & all it says on outside is blitz down the side & "Dual turbo timer
dual turbo mode indication system
"blitz" means the ability to progress, every performance parameter of the motor-car. Established in 1977 "BLITZ" has developed & evolved automotive.
BLITZ ELECTRIC TUNING SYSTEM"

in other words booger all about the model other than its a dual boost guage & turbo timer which i knew already (http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/cwm/cwm/uhoh3.gif) it reads in bar when positive boost for what it\'s worth.....lol.
3 buttons on front reading from left to right "power" then the display "minute" "second" erm er does any of this help (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/dvv/sconf.gif) lol i doubt it but hey at least i now know the company blitz is as old as me (http://mysmilies.rgforums.com/s/cwm/cwm/laugh.gif)

???

I went to a garage this morning, they asked me £35 or £40 something for fit the turbo timer, does anyone think it is good price? i cannot fit by myself really...

For the BOV, i do not know which part should connect the pipe from my car, and where is noise come from?

cheers

if that\'s them including all the bits of wiring etc which maybe missing then suppose it might be fair but otherwise taking an hour to fit does sound a bit OTT but then er as already mentioned i no jack so i\'d just end up paying it anyway :D lol. Seriously were they quoting purley on time they reckoned it would take?

after a quick read up about the TT it sounds ok to install to be honest

you should have got a set of wire with a connection on either end that run from the back of the ignition

so you unplug the connecter from the ignition and put that in its place and reconnect the ignition to it ( so your ignition runs thru the turbo timer )

there is a a fly lead to the hand brake switch - if the car is running on the TT and you let the handbrake off , it kills the engine !

and thats about it

oh yeah just connect the pipe for the boost gauge !

SI - so yours reads in BAR ?? thats interesting - have you tried to power up the unit and see what happens - use a battery charger or such like to get 12V and then blow really hard into the pipe to see if it works ??

there are loads of web site that tell you how to install the things !!

er i haven\'t tried plugging it into owt recently as well it was working fine when it was on car but a few weeks back :D & yes positive boost was in bar & was what pointed me to my boost problem although i was told they weren\'t the most accurate devices it seems it was on the money!

i take it that\'d be nothing currently then (http://www.stupid-boy.com/smilies/contrib/blackeye/hihi.gif) lol anyway yes as i say it is a nice sleak little unit which gives a pretty accurate reading from my experiance so if you can fathom how to plug & play then it\'s gota be good :cool

si - so you ran a TT as a boost gauge - so it can be done .... hummm interesting !

it is a dual thing so it can do turbo timer & boost guage or merely just one of those functions if wired up to do so i presume :D

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH right - the way im looking at it , is if you supply it with a 12v feed and the boost pipe , then it should work OK - so how do we go about testing this theory ???

over to si for the low down on this !!
