Title: how to avoid the dreaded burnt bumper
Post by: neil_jdmr on February 20, 2008, 10:46:01 PM
Gonna be fitting my Nur spec very soon and since currently the rear bumper is shiny and unmarked i am concerned the bigger exhaust is gonna melt it:flamed  or at best put a nasty black mark on it, especially after some hard driving.

Anyway of stopping this or is this not a problem on fd\'s

When  i had a carbon diffuser added to the purple rx7 i placed a aluminium plate under the exhaust to stop any melting or burning, might not look great but saves any issues :god

I\'ve found that it depends on the lenght of the exhaust. The less that sticks out from the bumper the more burnt the bumper gets. My exhaust sticks out a bit further than EnvyD\'s and I get no buring but steven get a bit. So get an exhaust with a bit of a longer end pipe thingie

The exhaust is a blitz nur spec if that helps not sure whether its gonna stick out or not till i get it on.

So its the flames that cook it then and not just the heat of the exhaust?

In that case ( now tell me if im wrong ) since its only gonna be a backbox and the cat will still be in place i shouldnt get any flames.

I really am not keen on any of the parts that stick of over the bumper tbh although the carbon ones look a stack better than the ally ones they all look a bit "demon tweeks" to me.

Suppose they serve a purpose though and look better than a toasted back bumper.

Cheers guys

I\'ve got a NUR Spec and never had any problem with the bumper getting burnt or leaving exhaust smoke marks on it? It does stick out past the bumper though.

Now this is what you call a burnt bumper :D
