Hi guys, my engine has given up the ghost only after a few thousand miles and im looking at getting an 13B-RE for my 95 fd, but there are some questions that need answering before i dive in:-
1/The gearbox plate is from an auto, can these be changed, if so where from?
2/I need a conversion kit for the sump, any ideas where i can get this from and prices?
4/Ive also been told i need different injectors, what cc am i going to be looking at?
3/Is there anything else i need to consider before fitting this engine?
Many thanks :)
speak to pip at wgt mate
1. AFAIK, you dont need to change the rear plate..
3. Not sure about the different injectors and why youd need them.
Why do you want a Re? Surely it will be easier to just port the Rew and save yourself the hassle (besides the Re has smaller exhaust ports compared with the Rew).
and the re mounts from the center plate nor the rear as the rew, so new engine mounts req. tbh unless your going for mega hp id just get the rew ported.
matt
As above really there\'s a lot of work involved for no reall gain unless your going for mega HP. I don\'t think anyones making kits over here its a case of custom work to do the mods John username Warthog is probably as good as any to tell you whats involved.

The low down is, i can get an RE engine cheaper than it will cost to get a full rebuild done. Im waying up the options but not sure what needs changing etc. I already know about the engine mounts and that isnt the problem, i just needed to know what else needs sorting out for this thing to work. Later on i will be uprating the power, but for now i\'ll be keeping stock turbos.

Oh and the Exhaust ports are massive compared to the Rew engine.
Lot of work bud..good luck. If you need a chat 07771882430. :cheers

Actually the exhaust ports are smaller on the RE engine, the inserts need removing and replacing with the ones from an REW at the very least.
But the inlet port runners and inlet manifold runners are bigger, but then the actual size of the inlet ports on the side housing faces is pretty well identical in stock form.
To really make good use of one of these engines, you need to have it ported, which means a total strip down.Major mods, such as Warthogs car are where you really score well.
If you are trying to run it and external components as stock, you will lose low down torque due to the bigger inlet runners.
For the amount of messing around needed you are better off staying with the REW if you are trying to save money.

i run an RE engine now mate if you want a chat or a ride like me know 07929077185 and i am not far away!
Stationary gears and bearings are better on the REW so they will need putting on the RE engine as well I believe but I could be wrong
