Title: Suspension
Post by: TiddlesRX7 on February 19, 2008, 05:03:57 PM
Might sound stupid. Can someone verify that this is a standard front suspension set up. The details stamped on the damper are as follows:
FB44 34 700C
GAS FILLED
DO NOT OPEN
DO NOT HEAT
OE1O.

Cheers guys

I was almost going to run out to the garage and see whats on mine but they are Mazdaspeed things, I will have a look on the parts cd for you.

Yep totally standard, parts cd confirms the numbers for the front.

Cheers pdTaylor.
Looks like I might be buying a new set of coilovers then.
Does anyone know what these are like?

D2 are quite good. I was lucky and had a pair of teins fitted to the rear and mazdaspeeds on the front.  However i am having a pair of teins coming from japan for the front to match the coilover thing up a bit.  They are used but in very good condition and i think about £150 delivered so not bad really.

Yeah mine is stock on the front and Bilstien on the back. Im not sure what to do
Options
1/ Nick a stock shock off my donner car
2/ Buy some Bilstien coilovers for the front
3/ Buy something like the the D2\'s:D
Not sure what to do so many choices so little money!

just so happens i have a full set of Mazdaspeed shocks and springs, adjustabubble, going to clean them up a bit and put them on ebay. With my Teins coming i am in no need for them.  They are very firm but not bad.  probably be better in a coupe tha vert as less to shake around !!
can make an offer, not sure on postage though but should be no more than £40 as i sent two seats for £45

Please could you take a picture of them when you have cleaned them up, and post it on this thread so i can have a look. Might just save me some £ and bring some in for you.

well i\'m not after stupid money for them and i need to get them oput the way. may save you several hundred pounds !!

I have not really driven the car on the teins, i\'m only going by prior knowledge aqnd the feedback that The TEINS give.  The mazdaspeed ones are most defo firmer than stock and i would imagine cheaper to buy than teins or HKS etc.  people will buy items made from HKS etc because of the name and are prepared to shell out the money so it depends on how \'fashionable\' you want the car to be.

Are the Mazdaspeed shocks the green or blue variety? Do they have the original Eibach springs Pete?

they are black with mazdaspeed written on them. Not looked close enough at the springs but the car sits lower than standard.  To be honest in saw what they were and swopped to standard as i am selling the car (on ebay, black TII convertible)  the shocks are adjustable on the legs via a turny knoby thinggy

Well yes the white cab does have adjustable struts but not looked to see if they are Mazdaspeed items.  The other four I have are defo as they are stamped on them.
When I was cleaning the car i found a pot of gold as well Stu.......Cheers !!!
