Title: Does anyone have an FC with no problems
Post by: bonobo on February 18, 2008, 09:26:32 PM
Just wondering? is it just me or are these cars really Temperamental?
I started with a car that had a whole bunch of little problems, i\'ve fixed some things, then i notice something else! or something new crops up!

has anyone got a car where everything works?
all the electrics, gauges, wipers....

for the odd week I have - but as you say, these are older cars and stuff goes wrong.

I have a wiper switch to replace, and the headlight circuit to sort, then it should be 100%

Keep at it, they are rewarding when everthing is working.  I also use mine as a daily driver, so it get\'s a thorough workout.

mine has \'character!\'

floods when \'warm\' only, not hot, not cold...  random, am gunn fit a switch on the dash to cut fuel to save me pulling the fuses the whole time.

me thinks dodgy injector or dodgy warm start..  pig!!!

erm, my TII hasn\'t had any problems for a while (it\'s been off the road for 2 years lol!) but, lets look at what has happened so far...

had the car 9 months and threw a tip
rebuild with a "small" half bridgeport
rear brake caliper seized
those are the only problems I\'ve had. (well except for when I managed to cross wire the uprated injector module and burn it out! but that was me not the car\'s fault)

My TII electrics work fine other than the sunroof motor is a bit tired and needs a helping hand to get going. Oh and the dash lights flick between normal/dim sometimes but a bit of percussion maintainance usually fixes that.

Is this the same imaginery car your alays talking about! It can\'t be far off finnished now is it?

actually the sunroof does require a bit of a helping push sometimes!

And yes it is the very car, should be ready soon, although with Chris Impey\'s car having thrown a tip at Pod on Saturday I suspect there may be a delay again... :(

if people keep questioning that you actually have the car, why dont you take a picture of the engine bay with a bag of hovis sitting on the engine :D

its what people used to do on another forum i  know because people kept on faking that they owned cars :D

All mine have been fine, even the black one i am selling, just changed a few things for the MOT and flew through.  Mind you my white car was a strip and rebuild of the entire car but then it was my choice and not because there was anything wrong( changed the loom to S5). I have not had any problems at all, it works just fine.  I think that its important to maintain these cars, even simple things like keeping the engine bay clean, periodically inspect the brake system etc etc will do the car wonders.  This is not implying that those cars that have problems are not looked after as i know thats not the case but its the same for ANY car, ignore it and eventually it will just let you down.  Might have been that simple slow power window that only needed a slight adjustment and a bit of grease and now after 2 months the motors blown !!  just an example but its all too true.  Tinker, tinker and do more tinkering.

Mine is fine, :)

Apart from Speedo needs  a converter fitting, shows 80 when doing 50,
Passenger window goes up slowly.
Interior light isnt working
Exhaust is blowing,

apart from that, it starts everytime, and goes like stink :) :) :)

Fuel gauge has just packed up

the chances of their being a picture of a black turboII with hovis on the engine and ur number plate are rather slim therefore whack a hovis on the engine and taking a pic pretty much proves its your car.

though you can go with other brands of bread or even other objects :D

no need - just pull the circuit opening relay just above the fuse box driver\'s side (and take it with you when you leave the car ;) )

Well my EGI gets a run most days... I\'d be lying to say there weren\'t any problems, but nothing to stop me from using it:
- rear washer/wiper works when it feels like it!
- sunroof wont open
- interior light wont come on when opening the door
- patches of rust (particularly sunroof)
- passenger door doesn\'t always lock when locking the drivers door.
At present I also have a sticking rear brake calliper so need to sort that out soon, but (touch wood) thats about it.
But, these (in my case) are 20 year old cars and will inevitably have problems....in my view however they are worth the hassle.  But I guess we are all a littled biased on this forum!
Cheers

Apart from the rear wiper and losing coolant that\'s my TII completely.

I got rear calipers for my Honda Legend from brakesint.co.uk. They have RX7 calipers for 69 ex VAT.
