Title: Dismantle a TII turbo
Post by: pdtaylor18 on February 10, 2008, 12:15:10 AM
Well my old S5 turbo from a TII was well and truely goosed so i thought i would have a go at taking it apart. The hot side should be ok but need to take it apart to examine it.  Undone the compressor nut and undone all the bolts but the front compressor housing is loose but just will not come off.
Anyone on here taken one apart and can you get the bits for them ie are they a particular brand made for mazda and can you get the bits.  I will need to replace the complete compressor blade assy as they are trashed. or am i better off sending it away to get upgraded. It will need to be balanced anyway.
I do have a new turbo but would be nice to have a spare to drop in.  The turbo i replaced it with is nothing special.

the turbo is made by hitatchi and not really worth rebuilding imo. Just go for an aftermarket turbo if i were you

Isn\'t there a circlip or something you need to remove from the spindle to allow the compressor wheel to come off ?  The exhaust impeller and spindle should come out together.

Tried looking for that but could not se one, just think i need to have another look.  just interested to see how they go together more than anything.  I have another larger turbo to go on the car anyway so its just an inquisitive question but the exhaust side might be good for someone.

Seconded. Even if you just get cheap ebay turbo that you keep for a year or two, it will contain much more refined design and not be so \'agricultural\' :)
