Im looking at buying some new brake discs, im looking at buying some from rx7store.net in the US, i know some of you have had bad experiences dealing ith them but i have done 4 or 5 orders and all has been good.
They sell Brembo discs and do them in 3 configurations:
1. Slotted
2. Drilled
3. Slotted and Drilled
Ive heard that drilled discs are prone to cracking but would brembo really make discs that are going to crack?
ive had drilled discs before chris and they cracked from the drill holes so personally id go for slotted ones.
dont go for drilled unless expensive recomended ones id say mate, many crack which is unsafe.
cheers for the advice, i was thinking maybe just go for the slotted ones to be safe.
just my view but pads would be 80% of my effort as good ones make a HUGE difference!
then braided lines followed by a brake stopper then perhaps dics and big calipers last.
oh and never buy them wavy cut ones as they are literally comical :rollin
hey chris i changed not so long ago had mazda standard disk\'s -which a lot of people/vendors/tuners recommended with the ds2500 pads all round not cheap when i replaced all 4 corners but stop well now!
i already have new hawk pads to fit and already have braided hoses, my current discs are very worn so just wanted to get some new ones
i have drilled discs one my other car, they havnt cracked but by choice I would go for slotted like on my rex
Persoanlly slotted DBA\'s. I have had great results over others i have tried in the past with these.
Cheers
James
Had slotted and drilled Black Diamond on my last Rex, which seemed very good for the price, and their pads were very good road pads as well, worked straight from cold and not too much dust. Not sure they\'d be up to much track use, though. Never had drilled rotors crack on a car, but I\'ve had EBCs crack from the holes on a bike. Dunno whether that\'s because car discs are so much thicker and more robust? Probably would go for just slotted in future; tbh the drilling has little real function on the road other than to look nice. Slots do at least slightly clean glazing and contamination from the pad surface at the expense of accelreated wear rate.
you need to weigh up what you want to do with the car.
massive choice of discs out there with a massive price range

I would stay stock or decent ones like endless or project mu.
The car for me is a weekend car that i go out and have fun in, also this year looking at doing a few track days if i can, ive never done any before so im a bit of a novice
The car is running on stock twins with front mount, uprated injectors etc and is running at 1.0bar, so should be around 400bhp @ fly
Ive got hawk pads to go on that i bought ages ago, already has braided hoses and has slotted discs but i dont know which make as they were already on the car, but they look quote well worn, thats why im thinking of changing at the same time i do the pads and fluid change
Im running with slotted Project Mu discs and matching pads. Cracking upgrade on standard :)
Chris
i would love to get some good ones like project mu but they are a bit pricey arent they?

Try Nengun mate, you may be suprised :)
Think I paid about £250 for my front discs. Pads I bought from Charlie (Nurspec) tho, so not sure on those new.
Chris
if you like we can do the Project Mu parts. Please feel free to get in touch. If you use them with Mu pads too you\'ll get fantatsic results.
